Welcome everyone to the Forth Best Paint Competition!!
The best paint competition will be open for entrees for two weeks and will close at 12:00 AM May 15 at midnight.
Restrictions: Must use THREE COLORS. (All entrees must use 3 colors no more, no less. Different shades of one color is allowed (if you use two colors in a fade and a third color appears, it is still legal). Backing colors do not count, only the colors visible)
In the following two weeks (May 16 to May 30) we will hold the third Street/Race Competition. All entrees in the 4th Street/Race must be import cars.
Each month we will hold a Best Paint and Street/Race competition. If you can’t get your bodies done this month, don’t worry there will be plenty more to come!!
The winning bodies may appear in Radio Control Car Action or R/C Nitro!!
RULES for Best Paint:
1) Any body may be submitted to the competition (Truck, buggy, touring car, etc).
2) Any body submitted may NOT appear in another competition.
3) Photo editing the pictures (other than cropping and adjusting brightness/contrast) is highly looked down upon and may result in disqualification.
4) Anyone may enter a body (professional painters are welcome!)
5) Please refrain from insulting bodies in anyway.
6) Must fall within this month's restrictions (May restrictions: Must use 3 colors)
7) Only 2 entrees per person.
8) Bodies should be painted within the last 4 months.
Each submission must include the following:
Body manufacturer and size.
Paint used (please list the three visible colors).
Masks used (hand or precut)
Inspiration (could be another paint job).
And of course, a body.
This month hpirunner1976 will be judging the Best paint competition.
Each body will be judged by the following criteria (1-bad, 10-excellent):
Difficulty (score 1-10)
Over all design (score 1-10)
Execution (score 1-10)
The photo and background will not be judged. All that is needed is a clean photo that clearly shows the body.
Each month we will place some restriction on all entrees.
June restrictions:
Best Paint-None any body is eligible.
Street/Race- None, any body is eligible.
GOOD LUCK

raymo24: Killer bike!
BODZ: Beautiful job. :) I see 4 colors: red, blue, white, and black. sorry but i have to draw the line somewere.
wing: Another beautiful job, but only 2 colors are visable. (it will be a perfect entree for this months best Street/Race Import comp though!) :)
Sparx: Cool. I like the tribal stuff. Maybe you could cover the wing dams with something blue and take another picture, or just take off the wing (lack of wing shouldnt effect the judging.) Otherwise you have 4 colors.
keep em coming!!!!!

Sparx: If they are decals your ok, but personally they look painted. Its a great body and its a great addition to the competition, but i dont want to start a controversy. If you can somehow make it three colors your golden! :)
Sorry for the goof, i copied raymo's name then looked at Lemon's bike. :( :)

Funkmaster: After looking back through the thread, i noticed that almost every body had a window border which was either silver or black. All of these other bodies had decals, but you painted yours. I feel it is unfair to penalize you because your body did not come with the window trim decals. As a result I'm going to not count the window trim because it was painted in a manor that simulates the normal decal (i.e. was painted silver).
By the same logic, xENo's body will be eligible.
xENo: Love the tribal graphics! (see above)
cool head: Awesome bodies. However you are only allowed to enter 2 bodies per contest. Please read the instructions in the first post and give us the required info. If you can get the info for the cars in and tell us which to you want entered, then your cars will be judged.
Does anyone know if the red triangle and the stripe on the NSX is paint or a decal? I cant tell and dont want to accuse him of anything.
Eligible cars:

Realized this body meets the contest rules, so I thought I'd throw it in there for the heck of it. For this body, I tried doing something a little different with fading the silver in to the blue. I used the blue for a very light shadowing on the yellow (probably won't be able to see it in these pics). In hindsight, I probably would've liked to shadow the yellow more than I did.

I liked your body best too, although the front kinda looks funny all bright and all, the back with the arrow-looking yellow on blue looks awesome to me, great effort and you really should enter it in to another comp, because it has a great chance of winning. keep up the good work.

Hey gosse98, how'd you do taht fade from teh silver to the blue? first the silver, then blue? I have done fade jobs for my cars, trying both ways, but they look different..liek a different technique..
I have a Stratus I will be painting up soon..I plan on entering it for some painting comps, and my other boides too..so, I lok forward to the competition..

XXX/TC3 Racer> I shot the blue first, then the silver. My technique... first I take a marker and draw a reference line on the outside of the body, where I want to make the fade happen. I'll start shooting at the line and work my way back... applying more coats further away from the reference line. Also, remember to always shoot away from the area where the second color is going to be, to minimize overspray.

Since hpirunner never came by and didnt respond to my emails, i got stuck judging (after going though it i have an even greater respect for our past and future judges!)
Without further ado.........
Third Place: with 21 points is Real Lemons' Motorcycle!
Cleanly cut lines and even black pin striping contributed with an excellent eye catching design to squeeze by a few close challangers.
Second Place: with 23.5 points is Funkmaster's Jetta!
The clean rear checkers and the extent of cutting and use of the "graphite" technique paid off!
And first place and our first repeat winner with 25.5 points is.....
T3GT!
He scored high in all three points catagories with an excellent design, difficult hand cut masking and nearly flawless execution.
Congrats to the winners!
If anyone wishes me to elaborate on their work email me.
Thanks to everyone who entered!!!

Erm, wasn't the jetta eliminated? I don't mean to be rude, but I thought it was, because it had too many colors..jsut trying to state the rules..other than that, funkmaster, I loved that body..good job..Oh, and how would you go about shading the blue, into the "graphite", like the blue was standing away from the "graphite"?

As a result I'm going to not count the window trim because it was painted in a manor that simulates the normal decal (i.e. was painted silver).
By the same logic, xENo's body will be eligible.
Yes the body used 4 colors (yellow, pink, blue and silver) but because proline bodies do not come with decals for the window trim, i did not count the window trim as a color because it was a color (silver) that mimicked the decals that most other body mfg's include with the body.
I hope this makes sense.
WOW!!!....Thanks Mab_man20.......I didn't expect to win this one.....I really wanted to put that scheme on a touring car body in the regular Red and White colors.....but I stopped running my TC3 and went back to my T3 at the local Dirt Track!!!!....So what you see is the outcome, the Holden Scheme in my New Race Colors!!!!:D
BTW....Thanks for stepping in there!!!.........Judging is more involved then you remember from before huh.....:p .....It took me a whole night to really look everything over and get critical with my Final 5 Pics!!...Good Job!!!:D

Thanks Real Lemons......The hard part of that paint job was the masking, Drawing it the right size and cutting it out(time consuming too).....the painting itself was easy, just spray:D (I've got pics of every stage in the process......A friend wanted to see how it was coming out)
BTW---Cool Bike!!....I like it:D

wing, how do you make those pics? I think that if more people knew how to, more people would use them..and make them..then, it would take less time to load, and less space on rcca's server to host the pics..in the end, everyone would be happy! is it a regular program we can use? free download? etc?

Just wondering why people were still posting their bodies in this competition?
"The best paint competition will be open for entrees for two weeks and will close at 12:00 AM May 15 at midnight. "
Just a thought

Phil is right. I have no problem with you posting here, but the competition ended a LONG time ago. Please check out the newest competition and enter your bodies there.
