Is Futaba and Megatech same company? I was searching ebay for 3PKs and I found a Futaba 3PK for 320 or so and a Megatech one for 230. What is the difference? I wanted to sell my M8 to get one. Should I go for a 3PK or keep my M8? Thanks for any input.:)

The Megatechs are located in Hong Kong. One has a 40mHz RX which is illegal here. I guess Ill just be getting a XXtra TX and RX instead.:D

Get the Magnum version, the Megatech version has no U.S. warranty. One guy had the screen fail on his Megatech and he had to pay to get it fixed because its not the Magnum (U.S) version for $320 you might as well order it from tower where its $330 and get a $15 or $20 discount. I think the Megatech version might be available in 75mhz because a website of a shop in HK said it had 75mhz 3pks. You also get a battery and charger wit the Magnum version which is not in cluded with the Megatech.

Futaba is the brand, Magnum and Megatech are the model names. In the US Futaba uses Magnum as it's model name...Magnum Jr, ect...In Asia Futaba uses Megatech as it's model name. Both are identical radios other then the model name. As long as it's on a legal US band then Futaba should honor the warranty on either.

You are correct that Futaba will honor the warranty but if you get a Megatech that warranty is only valid in the country where it was purchased. So if you bought it from Hong Kong then you will need to send it in to a shop in Hong Kong for warranty repair, Likewise if you bought a Magnum in the States it is warrantied in the States. Same thing applies to automobiles, Canada and US both have identical car models sold in each country and in fact manufacture parts for each other but when you have a warranty repair it is only valid in the country where the product was purchased. This is due to the international trade laws regarding pirated goods (smuggling) and black or gray markets to discourage consumers from purchasing illegally imported goods (the governments charge an import duty/tariff for revenue).

I think there is a diffrence between the radios the Magnum version will only take tx packs and I think the Megatech version takes seperate AA cells.

Right, the Megatech comes with a dry cell tray only. And the Magnum only uses NiCads in the States. I tried to get a dry cell tray but was told by the Futaba personnel that it isn't available here. So I made my own NiMH pack out of 8 Ray-O-Vac 1600 cells ($18.00 at Wal-Mart), some cut down battery bars and a spare connector and voila, a Tx pack that lasts for over four hours.
