Internal Springs

Does anyone know where I can get some shocks with the spring on the inside of the shock body? I saw it in a magazine that had it installed into a MT. I love the way it looked. Very realistic. He even had one right side up at the other shock upside down per wheel. I wish I could find a pix of it on the net to post.

Try a small spring at a local hardware store and place it between the shock piston and the cap. You might have to mess around with the spring stiffness. I think it would look cool but dotn know how it would affect oil areation.

I can think of several problems:

1) Shock stroke would be affected by the compressing spring inside: You won't be able to get full travel from the shock because the spring will take up space when compressed.

2) You can't adjust pre-load.

3) It could potentially scratch the inside of the shock body as the spring compresses.

I know Losi used to make an internal spring kit for a short time, but it was a 'helper' spring and not capable of being used by themselves.

Was the truck in the magazine for show only, or was it really functional?

Ah, right, Hotrodical's trucks. I don't think they are functional, I mean I can't seem them working very well for the reasons above (And who is going to run a truck that looks like that).

i think kyosho's double dare had shocks (not oil) with internal springs. nce saw that in a RCCA 'flash back' artical. try seaching eBay, they may have.
