Yokomo is reviving the "Mini" class with this new release, but we're not talking about 1/24 or 1/18 scale cars; we're talking about the 1/12-ish "minis" that were big (so to speak) about 5 years ago. Yokomo's car looks like a high-performance piece, thanks to a graphite chassis, well-proven belt drive system, and 1/10 scale sedan-size wheels and tires.

Sweet!, now all they need to do is make a nitro version of it, it would be a huge hit.

Looks nice! But why only 4 cells? Did'nt the HPI mini use 6 cells! Nice looking car though, maybe this will get HPI thinking and they'll re-release their mini or make a new one?

Interesting, but I've got to ask. Why? Why didn't they build a 1/18 scale to compete with the HPI micro. Instead of trying to revive a dead class of cars?!

Perhaps because Yokomo prefers to make High Preformance R/C equipment? Don't get me wrong, the HPI Micro is a "very nice little" car, but I've yet to see one run that actually interested me. If they're fast enough to catch my attention, then they're utterly undriveable. If they're driveable, their pace is utterly boring. Maybe on a track too small to run 1/12th or TC's on they'd be entertaining.
Mini's on the other hand are awesome fun.
Put a micro speedo in front of the four cells on the right, put the receiver on top of the servo, and pow, space for two more cells!!
Toss some Plaid Fronts, and Grey Rears on it, drop in an eight turn, and now you've got something interesting.
With those proportionally giant tires, and extra wide chassis, it really is a cute little Bugger isn't it?!?!

They have already been released in the US, but Yokomo USA is sold out. There are a few places on-line where you can get it. They are true 1/10 scale wheels, and alot of the 1/10 MR4-TC hop-ups/parts work on this car.

It looks like you could fit another cell or mabey even 2 on the right side of the car by moving the other 3 cells back a little farther leaving possibly space for 2 cells, definitly one without even moving it though. It might offbalance it if you add to cells to that side though.

Those shocks don't look that good. I wonder if they are coming out with some upgrades.

The shocks are their standard plastic version. You can use the threaded aluminum shocks from the standard MR4-TC's as an upgrade.

Cool. I think I might get one. Could you fit a brushless in it?

Standard size electronics will fit, not sure on a brushless set-up though.

to bad. that would be so cool!
1/10 size wheels on the car just look ugly, at least that's my opinion. I saw a pic in a magazine where the body was mounted on the chassis and with those wheels it just doesn't look right. Why not use Mini wheels, like the ones on M-Chassis, or on the RS4 Mini?

Opinions vary, I think they look really cool, like putting 24" wheels on a real car. The reason for the 1/10 wheels is simple, performance.

If they use small wheels you will definitly have to gear higher and there will be increased tire wear because of the smaller circumference. I think the 1/10 wheels will work fine.

It's a great little car; the parts fit very well, the plastic shocks are smooth, and the main chassis plate is very thick. I haven't run it yet, but it's got a 10 turn double in it, so it should be pretty quick ;)
Some things about the kit definitely need attention, though: there were no turnbuckles in my kit, even though the box says otherwise; the kit includes instructions from another kit (1/10th scale) and a supplement with revisions unique to the assembly of the mini...it's a major PITA to have to flip through these two manuals; also, when you assemble your mini, keep in mind that the illustrations used for setting camber and tie rod length are NOT to scale, so you'll need a set of calipers (remember that there were no turnbuckles, so this step was frustrating to say the least.)
FYI, it comes with white dish wheels and slick tires.

So whats the deal with 6 cells in this thing? Have any of you guys who have one tried to put 6 cells in it? If it does work, I might just pick one up as a companion for my hpi mini. And with regards to the whole 1:10 tires on the mini, IMO minis (at least hpi's) handle a helluvalot better with 1:10 wheels and rubber than with the mini sized stuff.
