I am looking into TRX 2.5 Engine for my NMT because it has high rpm of 40,000+ and is powerful engine for such low price.
There is Traxxas's TRX 2.5 Engine with pull-start in towerhobbies (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDAK2&P=0)
Is it possible and anyone has ever done it?
Thanks!

People have put 2.5's in RS4's, so putting one in an NMT should be no problem. But you'll need adjustable engine mounts; one that can go front to back, and side to side. It takes a bit of custom part fitting (not machineing wise, just gathering them all) but it's possible.

That must be why my t-maxx does wheel stands and runs for hours.:D

you see, a few people are not skilled enough to run this engine correctly, so it performs bad, so instead of admitting their error, they just say it sucks...

It doesn't require any talent to tune the trx 2.5. You just have to make a small adjustment when you start it up for the first time that day. Then it should run in top shape. I am real begginer when it cones to tuning and I'ved had great success with this power plant.
It just takes a little time but not that much. of course I read all the mag articles and I have read through the owners manual completly.
but all in all if you give the trx 2.5 a chance you WON'T be dissapointed. It's the same rules with all engines and that nitro may take a little tuning but anyone should be-able to do it with success. Just don't be afraid of the needles and nitro will give hours and hours of enjoyment.

I am not interested to hear abt tuning issues on TRX 2.5 and thats irrelvant from what I was asking for. Don't bother telling me bad things abt TRX 2.5 as it is a waste of time.
I am asking if anyone has 2.5 on their NMT. TRX 2.5 has 1+hp and very high rpm, these are the reason I am interested in. It's only for $109.99

Don't even waste your time responding to posts like that, they're completely worthless. If someone doesn't like a product, the least they could do is say WHY they don't like it!
There's a thread on MaxxTraxx.com in the 1/10 Stadium Truck forum from a guy who's putting an 2.5 into an NMT. He's got at least one picture of it mounted up, but I'm not sure if he got it running yet. Seems to me he's waiting for a header to arrive, since the 2.5 doesn't include one and it's specific to the 2.5 (can't use a normal rear-exhaust header).
1.33 hp (dyno'd by RC Nitro) for $110 is a steal! Now the question is when will Tower actually receive them? I noticed their expected availability date has gone from late-April to early-May to mid-May.

ok if it doesnt suck,
then what are your needle settings
mine wont hold a tune worth a crap
its very inconsistent

early made engines had a flaw, they were sucking air.
I'm not too sure how to tell if the ones we all have are flawed but I know mine has bubbles that come out from the glow plug.
Check to see if the motor at idle revs up by spraying starter fluid around the motor (keep away from the air intake).
If it revs fix the leak. This will make it consistant.
Good luck and have fun (this is why we do this hobby)

Mine will still stall after a few high speed passes going to breaks
Trinnity (sirio) makes a piston and sleeve replacement for the 2.5 for $65. the material that traxxas used expands and contracts poorly and anything over 270deg will make the chamber compression fail and stall.
my needle settings are factory HSN lean 3/4ths LSN lean1/4th
Idle just above stall +1/4th turn

try out some different adjustment and use traxxas top fuel.
I have done tons of high speed passes in my street with out stalling.
Some of the 2.5s do have air leaks but if you know how to trouble shoot it's not a big deal. Most of the stalling problems are LSN related, guys insist on leaning needles on the 2.5 when the ones that are running cool and not stalling generally run close to factory default or even a little richer. Mine runs around 220-240F, doesn't stall and wheelies. I've had several .21s and if you tune the 2.5 like other engines you will have problems. 1/8 to 1/16 adjustments are the key, and make sure it's fully warmed up.

what about the low-end needle?
set that factory settings too?
and what is your idle set at?
