Hey Boys and Girls!! Time to vent!!
Fantom shipped my engine out this past Monday via UPS ground. According to their schedules, I should have received my package today. But noooooooooooooooo!!! Some damn crackerhead screwed up and sent my package to Indianapolis by mistake! It was sitting in Indy on Wednesday. DING DING DING DING!!! Sirens going off!! Houston, we have a freakin problem!
Now, in my humble opinion, when UPS discovered that THEY had screwed up and my package was sitting in Indy on Wed., THEY should have thrown it on a @#$@#$ plane and got it here on time! I know that neither I nor Fantom paid for air frieght, but UPS screwed up and they should make it right.
UPS is telling me that I should get the package on.......are you ready for this.........FREAKIN WEDNESDAY!!! What should have taken 4 days will now take 9!!! Nine days from Michigan to Texas!! Hell, I'm a truck driver! I could make it to MI AND back in 4 days!
Thanks to UPS, I will have to run my Mach .15 in my XXXNT instead of the Fantom. Thanks for nothing UPS!
AAAAHHHHHHH!!! I feel much better now..............well, not really. :(

I have a fix for your problem:
Local Hobby Shop

"Local Hobby Shop"
Not everyone has a LHS that is convient and/or helpful. Most people would LOVE to buy their parts from a shop that was two minutes down the road and filled with helpful people but this is often not the case.
Personally, I found a hobby shop about 35 minutes from my house that stocks lots of parts for my XXX-NT. I still order most of my parts online because the shop's hours conflict with my work scedule and I can only get to the shop during a small time interval on Saturdays presuming I have nothing else to do that day.

I think I speak for all of us when I say that I am very, very proud of you!

FYI, the LHS vs. on-line shopping debate has been beaten to a soupy bloody mess.
You read something I did not type. Move on, there is nothing to see here.

I just find it stupid that so many people get bagged on for not going to or utilizing their "local" hobby shop when many people have no access to one. You think people want to always be ordering stuff online if they had the ability to buy it locally for the same price? The internet has made this hobby very accessible to people in more rural areas, no sense raining on their parade all the time :p
update// Maybe I read a little too deep into your posts but I have been on the receiving end of the "GO THE HOBBY SHOP" situation WAY too many times :D My bad for any misreadings.

Still reading stuff I didn't type?
Oh, I see your edit :)
For the most part, I agree. For what it's worth.

I purchased the engine off of Ebay. Had trouble, sent it to Fantom, and they fixed it no questions asked!! Fantom customer service has been top notch!!! No complaints with them. :D

I work for a UPS plant in Michigan. I could tell you horror stories that you wouldn't believe. The bottom line is, don't use UPS. I am employed by them and I refuse to use them. FedEX is much better than UPS; they actually seem to care.

Or even better, use the US Postal Service Priority Mail. I've used it many times in the last few years & they've always gotten shipments to me quickly & safely(sometimes faster than I expected), & best of all it's CHEAPER than UPS Ground....:D

I also dislike UPS. How hard is it to read FRAGILE carbonfiber parts on the side of a box. I had some very expensive parts made for my real car and UPS cracked them a few times. Sure they payed for them to get replaced. Just the time it took. I now use AirBorn Express and FedEx for most of my crap

I work at UPS too. I would have to say that I ahve had good and bad experiences with the Postal Service, FedEx and UPS. I do work at the newest automated hub in Louisville and most of the packages here get treated very well. Of course, it's all automated and there is very little human contact with the packages. Less people=less chance of breakage. If you sent something from Michigan to Texas it more than likely came to Indiana, then Louisville, then to Texas. Most of the packages shipped around the central/eastern US or internationally come through our hub. I have been to some of the smaller hubs and am disappointed by how they treat customer packages. If you have a complaint about shipping by UPS; ANY aspect -time, damage, price call them and they will try to rectify the situation to the best of their ability. It is something we take pride in. In a recent customer survey only 30% of FedEx customer said that FedEd helped them. UPS's average was up at like 96%. Alls I'm saying is give us a call, well make things right.
US Postal Service Priority Mail is the best IMHO though. No lie about them being quick as hell!:)

I called and they apologized over and over but that was about it. According to the website, it left Indy at 8:22 a.m. Thurs morning and arrived in Mesquite,TX @8:56 p.m. Friday night. The new deliver date is Tuesday, so it will sit in Mesquite over the weekend.
Mesquite is only about an hour and fifteen minute plane ride from here. Hell, they coulda thrown it on a plane last night and got it to me this morning!! But that would have required extra effort plus services that were not payed for by me or Fantom. I guess UPS doesn't give a ratsazz. Seems to me that their attitude is "oh well, stuff happens......but we're not going to do what we're capable of doing to correct the problem."

You can have the shipping fee refunded to you for late delivery if you ask for it, or complain through their website. Just leave a note for UPS to verify your shipping address with Fantom.

I wasn't going to do this, but since you asked for it...
Our UPS plant is like one of the worst in the Detroit, MI area. We always end up being ranked 11 out of 12 in our district. Misloads and missorts happen with alarming frequency. Half the people working there have criminal records and are frequent drug users.
I was loading a trailer and really getting slammed. Slammed is when there is an onslaught of boxes coming down the belt. My fellow employee, "Rob" saw this and jumped into the trailer to lend some assistance. For some reason he picked up a really heavy box and stacked it on top. The box was unstable and fell on him. He was really upset at this point. He opened up the box, pulled down his pants, and took and monster dump right into the package. He taped the box back up and stacked it on the bottom of the trailer. At this point I was laughing so hard I was having trouble breathing. Rob quickly looked around to make sure that he hadn't been observed by a supervisor. When he was sure that all was well, he left the trailer.
The really disturbing thing in all this is that Rob showed no emotion during the entire process. He just took a sh*t in someone's box like it was a completely normal thing to do. I found out from other employees that this type of practice is normal for Rob. I just feel really sorry that some poor b*stard is going to get a box full of excrement.
As I stated before, I have hundred of other horror stories as well. The moral of the story is this, unless you want to get a package full of sh*t, don't use UPS.

That is one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard of. But the thing is, this kind of thing happens with other courier services too. It may not be that extreme, but it happens.

You can't really judge UPS based on ONE incident. Besides, you have no real HARD data to compare it to.

UPS delvers my stuff around 2 PM when NO ONE is home!!! they require a sig and DO NOT have a pick up location like fedex. But luckly my mom got home intime to sighn for it. But if she wouldn't have been there they would have to ship it back to the sender because it was there final attemp.
