Hi I have decided that this summer I'd like to get my hands on a nice RC kit. I want to build it, but i have no idea what to look for. I've never really done anything like this. Could you give me some tips? What should I look for? What prices are reasonable? Which type of car do you suggest and why?
thanks.
BTW, I'm pretty sure I'll get an electric one, probably an offroad. Maybe a rally car? from what I've seen they're pretty expensive, which is a problem

Always the story. Kits are wonderful, and a great way to really get to know the hobby, seeing as you have to put the thing together....when your done, you'll have a really good understanding of what does what, how and why.

If you get a kit, I'd suggest spending a bit on the kit itself, and going "cheap" so-to-speak, on the gear (radio, servos and such). Those are always things you can upgrade in the future, but you'll have a good car to work with right off the bat. After all, the car is the thing! I've seen to many people go for broke on their first kit and getting disinterested (I can't understand how ;))

Just my thoughts. Hope they help :)

This forum is a good place too look around, alos since you say you are planning on an electric, ask questions on the electric forum, they'll get quicker responses and more knowledgable people. I have an electric buggy, I went all out on mine, very good equiptment and a FT B3 was the kit. Ran me about $600 for everything, but you can have the same kit w/cheaper electronics for closer to $400, but as I said the Electric forum is the place to be.
