I'm looking for opinions on the MX-3, I Think its finally time for me to get a half decent radio system and I really like the looks and ergonomic design of the radio. I have seen the MX-3 v XR3i Comparison in RCCA but would just like some opinions from people on here that may have owned one or used one.

Many Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have the MX-3 and all I can say is that there GREAT! There so many features on them, and theres so much you can do with them, its well worth the money.

My 2 cents,

Dale.

You should also look into JR's new XS3, gives you the option to change channels so you can find one not being used when you go to race. There's a post on this in the Nitro Forum you should check out. There are only good things to say about it.

Yeah, I have the MX-3, and I love it, but now i wish that I had waited and gotten the JR XS3 because it is synthesized.

I have a question about the 3rd channel function on this radio. Can it be configured to work as a 3 servo position switch? I would like to have the servo stops at three different distinct position. I know the Futaba 3PDF does this but for some reason I can't find this radio anymore in Canada. The JR XR3 only has 2 positions.

I want to use this radio with my Tamiya tractor/trailer and use the 3rd channel to shift gear on the transmission. It's a 3 speed tranny so I need something that works as I described above. And Airtronics for some reason don't post the manuals online.

i have MX-3 and its great!! so many features!! and the XS-3 is great but its more expensive, almost twice!! but i think both are worth the money, if you have $100 get MX-3 you wont regret it, if you have $200 get XS-3 you wont regret it either, well consider that MX-3 has Rx worth $90 alone!!

Thanks for the input guys, I don't really think it matters what colour the RX is, Just aslong as it performs... Lets face it, You wont see it will you? :D.

:D The problem with the MX3 is the cost of additional recivers and crystals. So if you need an extra reciver get a NOVAC. It works great, is made in the USA (I like buy USA made so that some one might have a job.), is orange not toy blue, small size, and is a little cheaper than the Airtronics one.

I personally feel the Futaba 3PDF feels much, much, much better to hold (and when racing a lot that does make a difference). The Aitrronics just feels very cheap.

However, if you plan on racing, as people above has stated, if you have the money, I would seriously look at the XS3 for its synthesized feature. But, if you are just bashing in your own area, you will never have to worry about someone else having your frequency so the MX-3 should suit you very well.

Living in the UK there are very limited JR Propo products available, The XS3 for example is not.... Which is unfortunate for me.

Multiplex are offering a Synthesized version of there Profi 301 Car radio which I'd seriously consider if not for its price and July release.

I have yet to purchase a radio although a Futaba 3PJ has just come onto the 2nd hand market I should hopefully be purchasing shortly.

I have one for my monster pirate and i love it. small reciever for a small radio box. lol
gets the power from my nicd RX pack to my servos just fine. Can't really complain, except the manual doesn't rwally explain anything on what it does.

I've got an MX-3 and I love it! but it doesn't have three servo positions on the third channel. It sure would be cool if it did though.
