Ive got an MRC Superbrain 959 charger that I charge my 5 cell NiMh reciever packs, 8 cell NiCd transmitter, 6 cell NiCd starter box stick packs, 4 cell NiCd reciever pack, and 6 cell NiMh Micro RS4 packs with. In the manual that came with the charger it says you should usually use the 40mv peak voltage threshold setting for NiCds and 20mv setting for NiMhs. Then today when reading the newest RCCA issue I read that NiMhs should be charged at a 3-5mv peak voltage threshold and NiCds should be charged at a 10-15pvt. What is right which should I do. I have been charging them like the manual says but I don't want to continue if it will screw up my batts or not give me a good charge.

Thanks alot for the help. :)

Well I have a 15 hour charger/cycler (A real bear when you want to take your nitro out at that moment) and I've read that NIMH batteries are better charged slowly.

I would do as the manual says but charge them a little slower. Maybe 5 points slower.

BUT I don't have a peak fast charger.

i have 959 also, and i charge NiMh normally at 1 amp, and 20 mv threshold, and NiCd at 4,5 amps and 40 mv threshold, ive read its good, and it works for me, and i also chare Tx, Rx and glo heater sub-c cell, it works well

Ok. Good that is just what I charge mine at. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a better way. Thanks

i dunno what threshold to use, but i always charge tx packs at .5 amps. i also do rx packs at .75 and regular nicd packs at 4 amps. the micro packs i do at 1 amp.

rccardude04- I like to use 20mv threshold for NiMhs and 40mv threshold for NiCds. I assume your TX pack is NiCd. At .5 amps on the TX pack it probably take forever dosn't it? I charge mine at 1-1.5 amps and don't have a problem. For NiMh RX packs I usually charge them at 1 - 1.5 amps and my micro packs I charge at 1-1.5 amps too.
