The MX3 and XS3 will fit your budget, but don't have synthesiezed recievers(that I know of) but have multiple memories. both are cheap too

Are they compatable with any synthesized recievers?

How much do synthesized recivers cost?

The JR XS3 does have a synthesized receiver.
It also comes with a good metal gear servo.
Can be had for around $240.
It can be set up to shift your MAXX too.
All the features you'll ever need. Excellent radio.
Any questions? I have one.

Is it possible to only use one radio for two cars?

What about the aggressor CRX

Using one radio is definitely possible, in fact high end radio include memory for storing the settings of multipile models.
You just need to buy extra receivers with the same frequency crystals as in your radio.

I recommend Futaba's PDF-X. FM, 3 channels, all the useful computerized adjustments, Futaba's quality, 119$ at TowerHobbies. It does not come with servos, however. But it's 130$ cheaper than the XS3, it's more money than you'll ever need for two high performance, metal gear, coreless digital servos (like Hitec's MG's).

Got one for my NTC, and it's great. I haven't used other high end radios, so I don't know about the rest. The nicest thing in it compared to the competition is the clean look, not toyish as Lynx for example.

I second the 3PDF-X. For the $130 difference, you can easily buy a second reciever (which you would have to do anyway with the synth.) and some crystals. Plus, you can't beat Futaba for radio quality.

Yep, that's right... but in the case of the XS3 you don't need extra crystals (@ 30 bucks a set).... the TX uses a menu to select your channel and the RX has dials. Anywhere frm 61 - 90.

EDIT:
BAh, I'm partial to the JR radios... I've never liked the way futabas feel in my hands (not disputing the quality)

But... ANY channel , EXCELLENT MG servo on the JR, 5 model memory...
