What is the deal with Futaba? They come out with a great radio but no spectra module for it! Almost every other company has one for their radio's but futaba is still lagging behind.

Has anybody tried the Hitec Spectra Module in their Futaba 3PK yet?

I tried it today, and it works. It fits right in.

I thought it would!! I have heard of heli guys using the Hitec spectra mods in their Futaba 8 channel radio's for years. I emailed Futaba and Hitec a while ago and neither would give me a straight yes or no answer. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah i just got the radio last week and put my spectra in it. I raced it this last week with my tc3 and had no problems.

Putting it in probably voids the warranty.

Novak is supposedly making a Switch module for the 3PK.

According to Hitec:

"While it is known that the Spectra Module works with other brands of transmitters that utilize a similar module case, this practice is forbidden by the FCC, as well as most sanctioning organizations and also voids the warranty of the Spectra Module"

It is a frequency synthesizer manufactured by Hitec for use in their Lynx 3D and Agressor CRX radios. It is only available for 75MHz but covers the whole 30 channel spectrum.

Not every radio manufacturer offers synthesized modules for surface radios but they are starting to. JR released their XS3 which is the first in the USA market to come with a synthesized receiver as well. (Hitec packages in the Novak XXtra receiver). Novak makes the Switch for the Airtronics M8 and that's about it so far. Remember that the FCC regulations and the proprietary radio systems will make it economically unfeasible to put in a lot of R&D to manufacture an item for a very select niche market.

It is fortunate for Hitec and Futaba users that both companies uses the same radio protocols and function the same. Both are negative shift transmissions whereas all the others are positive shift.
