hey,
i am a 15 year old r/c car guy, and i am really interested in getting a park flier. i live in raleigh, nc, and i have a nice place to fly one. i really like some of hobby-lobby's models, especially the chubby lady. i only have $400 to spend, so price is an issue. there are so many nice arf's available, and i'm having trouble deciding which one would be good for me. i am not a complete beginner though, becouse i have built free flight models since i was 10, and i have flown my friend's gas trainer a few times.

your recommedations are appreciated.

A great plane would be the wingo, its cheap and easy to fly and veeerrryyy easy to fix if it breaks

Well, I, too am in the market for a first slow/parkflyer, though my background is in, would you beleive, miniature wargaming. I own a Traxxas Stampede, too, but its in the shop and my little bro canbilised my CVD's to make an ingenious yank eliminator for his Axis 1/8th buggy.

Anyway, whatever I choose, I'd want it to look like something. I'm keen on the Simprop Spad for that reason. I'm a sucker for warplanes. I'm gonna try giving it aelerons, too, but, you see, I'd have to get it first http://www.rcmicroflight.com/ubb/smile.gif

One thing I was annoyed to realise is that because of the 8 amp draw of a 280 motor, with an 800mah Duralite, that only means between 15 and 18 minutes of flight. If its duration time you want, you'll want a mootor smaller than a 280. However, hobby-lobby's 600mah nicad would give a good 11min., and I'm willing to compramise...

If you take the package deal, but substitue the 600mah,its $370 +/-. It fits your price range, although tightly.

Let us know what you end up with and good luck.

I bought and flew a Chubby Lady and was very pleased with it. I used two different battery packs: 270 mah, and 550 mah NiMh. Flight times were 6 to 15 minutes.

One weakness of the plane: If you put it in a dive and pull up too abruptly, you'll have a 2 piece wing. If I build another one I'll use a strip of wing reinforcement tape from tip to tip on the bottom of the wing.

So far out of miss bohemia, demosielle, chubby lady, and IFO3, Chubby Lady was the easiest to fly even in a 5mph wind.
