I am considering to buy a new T-maxx i just want to know in your opinions on what the problem areas are with this truck and what downfalls it has? How good is the new engine keeping up maintenance wise?

Well I'll give it a go. Mine has been great, haven't had the tuning/high temps problems that some guys have. The 2.5 engine has been awesome, stripped one spur (my fault, $3 to replace) and blew one shock cap ( Tmaxx shocks do this, there are fixes or buy aluminum) Scary fast truck that jumps well and handles better than the old Maxx.

Bulkheads and body posts. the rest seems to work great.

haven't broke bulk heads on t-maxx yet but my e-maxx broke them when my pop run the e-maxx into the t-maxx and the e-maxx broke frount skid and bulkheads. but the t-maxx left UNscrached.

and YOU MUST have a spare glow plug with you. They can go bad at ANY given time and will still look good. You will know that it went bad because the t-maxx runs REALLY RICH NO acceleration and No top speed and won't reach high rmps.

So THROW AWAY old glow plugs... they are USELESS.

any way the maxx is great and has run great for me and many others.

From what I have seen only those new to slide carbs have problems tuning the new TMaxx. The temps are high mine runs hot but Traxxas engines have always run above 240 to 260 with stock Heads and they admit it. If you want to get them down you need a taller head.

I have seen way to many tuning problems and it is because when you get it the LSN is too lean from the factory. Most R/Cs out of the box you do not have to play with it because they have a Rotary Carb but this one you do.

This one does not it have a Rotary Carb it came with a racing engine. All the people out here with experience tune it right and complain about the Head but those first timers have a hard time with it. I have walked about 10 people thru tuning it over the last 6 months on this board. Most problems I see is they run Hot plugs and Low oil content fuels then have not adjusted the LSN to a richer mixture.

Few thoughts :D

kydo32, I'm not partial to T-Maxxes, but, if your radio & receiver were faulty, they have nothing to do with the truck itself.
