I would suggest you buy the stronger drive shafts and the 2.5 suspension upgrade.

I got metal drive shafts and the suspension upgrade and my 2.5 handles like a dream.

If you want to go all out. Kippster has alum Diff cups, tough ones.

The EZ start system is different also. The new one works great but you might want to buy a 2.5 w/pullstart instead. The 2.5's drive shafts are longer and sturdier and the new wider arms improve handling big time. I'm not sure if you need new bulks to go with the new arms.

the big thing your gonna have to look at is the fact that its a rear exhaust engine so you'll need a new pipe from either traxxas or Fantom makes a really nice one.also, it has a slide carb so you need a throttle linkage conversion to compensate for that. I'm not sure if they have a pull start out for the 2.5 yet so your gonna have to go with the EZ start, unless they have a pull start out that i haven't heard of yet. if you call up traxxas (1-888-TRAXXAS) they have great tech support and they are planning on doing an engine trade in soon where you send in your old engine plus 100 bucks or something and they will send you a new 2.5. its really not worth it tho because thats about the price they sell it on tower. not only that but its an extra 50 bucks for the slide carb conversion and EZ start 2. so overall its a pretty pricey upgrade and you could probably find a very nice engine for much cheaper.

The pullstart is available, Tower has it in-stock for $17.99. The motor w/pullstart sells for $109 at Tower and will be in-stock this month.

Best bet is to go for a direct replacement Engine if you want more performance Sirio has a .18 with a Rotary carb that will drop right in and it has about the same HP as the 2.5. I do not know where to buy it but when I blow my TRX .15 I am going to look into where it I can find one.

Otherwise it requires modifications or a new frame and a bunch of parts. The Sirio engine is a cheaper solution unless you can drill the hole in the right place for the Throttle linkage for the 2.5 to fit then figure out what parts to get. You would need to get a TMaxx 2.5 manual and do a comparision of the parts you have and the parts you need.

Just a thought ;)

dropping in the 2.5 is no problem, they make a kit for about 35$ that includes everything needed to fit it into an old Tmaxx, including pipe and header, template for drilling holes, all the linkage, everything....

i was mainly worried about the driveshafts, thanks for the replies.

Nice did not know it was out there. It must be some what new because I looked into it a few months ago when the TRX2.5 came out and I would have to make mods.
