how do you connect the line to the wings to set dihedral into the wings?

Two small holes with tape reinforcement. Run fishing line through and tie to small piece of toothpick. Drop of Cyno to secure. 2 to 2 1/2 inch at the center should be about 6/7 degs. Use nylon as stretch is not a problem. Tom

I recently built on of the lite stik J3 Cubs. Instead of increasing the dihedral by tying a string between the two wing tips, I bent the bamboo rods before gluing them to the wing. First, I soaked the bamboo in water for three days. Then, I steamed them where I wanted them to bend with very hot steam. Next, I put three finishing nails in a 2x4 board so the bamboo rods would have to bend to go around them. I put all four rods one at a time stacked in this jig (with one end of each bamboo just extending beyond the first nail). The second nail was about one inch away (this is where I kinked the bamboo). I bent the rod till it was past the nail hole for the third nail, then inserted the nail. I did the same for the next three rods. Then, I dried it off with my heat gun. When removed, I had four bamboo rods with kinks in them sufficient make the dihedral equal to what I had read the plane needs. Finally, I glued the rods to the wing per the instructions. This solution means the wings can easily be removed, plus don't have a big bow in them or an unsightly string. Of course, this all needs to be done when the plane is being built.

Hi,

I achieved dihedral in my Lite Stick without all the soaking and bending of bamboo and I don't need a string now either. I used 1/8 inch CF tube instead of the bamboo. I also used a string and some tape (you don't need to poke a hole in the wing or add sticks, just put a small piece of filament tape on the end of the wing and it will hold just fine). That gave the Lite Stick good dihedral. I then left the plane in the back of the car for a couple of days. (Not really on purpose, just lazy.) After one warm day I noticed the wings looked "different".

Sure enough I took off the string and the dihedral stayed in place. Looks cool!
