What size prop is recommended for R/C on a 24" span bipe for a cox peewee .020. I have had reccomendations for a variety of props from 4" all the way to a 6x4. I can get a 6x4 with waiting. Will it work? Is this place appropriate to be talking about Gas models? Are there any more appropriate forums or boards? Thanks.

Thanks a bunch for the reccomendations and referrals. The plane isn't quite finished yet, and I am reluctant to fly it (and crash it) as my small plane skills are lacking. I finished a House of Balsa Cub (1/2 A) last week, so that will be advance the learning curve a little more. I get this odd feeling that flying a microbipe is going to be a lot different than flying my 40 trainer. I picked up a couple of smaller props (tornado) from the hobby shop, and got the two smallest... a 5-4 and a 5.5-3... both sound a little big. Any reccomendations for an 049? I have been running a 6x4 on my control line for a while now, and it has been adequate, but hey.. thanks a bunch. I appreciate the help.

Well, A 6x4 is HUGE for a .020. I fly alot of 1/2a gas stuff, and I rarely use a 6x4 on a .049-.061. I would guess something in the 4 inch diameter range would be more appropriate, altough the best thing to do is obtain some props and experiment. I would hesitate putting anything bigger than a 4 inch diameter prop on a .020, however. As for pitch, match it to the airframe. Ie, what flys it the best. I realize this may be hard as there may not alot of pitches to choose from. As for the appropriate forum, I know that most stuff discussed here is electric, but it is a MICROFLIGHT board, so I for one welcome another gas flyer. I fly anything and everything, from my Lite Sticks, up to a 40% Extra 300.....

I have flown more than one airplane using the Cox .020. It has been several years and I don't remember what prop I used but they were grey and made by Cox for the Pee Wee. Good hunting!
