Looks like a good deal to me but I can tell you it won't smoke a 2.5 maxx. It is more powerful and has more room to gear up but the 2.5 is faster out of the box. He didn't say anything about upgraded diffs, tranny, or driveshafts which you may or may not break depending on how you drive it. When I had a .21 in my old maxx I never broke any drivetrain part untill I sold it after a gallon or so. I did put a pretty good twist on the driveshafts though. The GS BO1 is obviously a .21 but it is at the bottom end of .21 engines. Otherwise that is good deal if you don't mind it being used. It look to be taken care of well too.

How can the 2.5 be faster? More RPMs? (I'm new to RC)

It's faster out of the box because it is so much lighter than the T but with a 2.5. Like puttin a V8 in a civic. I haven't seen a .21 run so I can't tell you what the “out of the box” difference will be for your T. The sport doesn't have 2 speed, 4 wheel or reverse. But the T will catch up in 2nd gear and leave a sport. That's the whole difference between the two.

I think that's a great price for the upgrades and how clean it looked. A new one costs more than that I think at the LHS.

It weighs about the same as the older Tmaxx. The older TMaxx has about .75 HP and the new TRX 2.5 has 1.3 HP. The new one is wider and handles better. I have both and rarely run my older one any more.
Personally I would not the older one unless you got it for about 150 because I know how I abused mine and if I sell it I will sell it for that much.

Whether anyone thinks it's a good deal or not really doesn't make a difference, does it? After all, you've already bought it.

True, true. But it's still interesting what people say. If you think it's good, I can feel good. If you think it's bad, I can feel "These guys don't know how this car, bla bla bla". A win only scenario. ;)

As I understood, he stated that the 2.5 is faster than the .21 out of the box. That, I couldn't logically accept.

Mjorich- Yes, the 2.5 revs higher than the .21. But since you have quite a bit more power with the .21 you have more room to gear up.

regular Tmaxx=money pit
.21 Tmaxx=ridiculous money pit.

Yes and No. Do you want to spend money to upgrade? Do you have the money to spend? Any RC is a money pit some more than others though. The T-Maxx isn't more of a money pit than other MTs other than the fact that there is more things you can buy for a Maxx than other MTs.
