Hello all,

I recently purchased the Megatech Wicked Angel RTR boat and nitro starter pack. It was suggested to me by the LHS owner knowing I am a first-time r/c boater and first-time nitro user. So anyway, I benched it with a garden hose adapter for cooling, and got her started. I let it run for a full tank just on idel at the factory-set needle position (as suggested in the manual). For the second tank, I began to dial in the needle to lean it out a bit. Not much, just enough to change the idle speed and sound. Then let it burn through another tank. The third tank, pretty much the same thing, except I dialed it in some more and started getting omn the throttle in short bursts (I had to dial in the enedle enough so that the engine wouldn't stall when I did get on the throttle). So, tank number four gets started, and I really dialed her in good. The throttle response is instantaneous, and the engine sounds like a Japanese crotch-rocket! It runs smooth and steady. MY QUESTION IS, it seems to idle very high, and the prop is spinning away. I was under the impression that the clutch was supposed to keep the boat from moving unless I got on the throttle. Will this actually be so in the water? Also, should the engine be idling that high? If I dial down the needle to slow it down, then the throttle chokes out the engine. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks alot form a newbie.

Yes the prop should stop in the water if you have a clutch. I'm not sure which needle you are talking about. There should be 3 high end, low end, and idle. I would try adjusting the idle screw. Just be sure you have the throttle opened when you adjust it.
