Well guys,
here it is my first attempt at a gas and newest addition to Team Wakeballs Racing! :D

Gotta finish running the throttle cable, solder the ferrule, bag the reciever, and install the rudder push rod. Other than that I'm done. thought I would give one last look mostly assembled untill I take some action pics.
Rundown on equipment is:
46" Deep Vee
32cc McCulloch aircooled engine with clutch
polished Ballantine drive with a Prather 275 prop
Polished Octura rudder
Futaba Magnum Junior w/ S3003 for throttle, FP S134 for steering and a Futaba Nr-4QB battery pack (borrowed till I decide)

Looking forward to getting it wet on the Fourth so we'll see.

I saw some spots on the body and paint that i couldn't have made better but I thought with this being a river boat that will be the least of my worries. I know it's only a matter of time till I meet Mr. Log.
Hope you all like her and I'll post some results of the first run later.

Hey B-D,
Nope going to run it open, wanted air cooled due to salt water. I have around $ 600 - $700 in it. not bad considering alot of these boats go for a $1000 plus. But those boats are set up with certain things in mind deigned to run from the get go and my Mac didn't cost near as much as some of these other motors. I sorta pieced mine together from the help I got here and at jrcbd. We'll see I should get 35 to 40 before any real fine tuning and performance upgrades. least that's what I'm told by a couple people at Jim's

nope hafta adjust them by hand. I prolly, Oh man I sound like BH  , should have left then off till i really decided if I needed them them or not but I didn't fill the original holes so figured why not, btw young brother far from found this hull in the trash. found it and the hydro on ebay for i think $300. rest of the equipment was junk. half the fun was building it myself, I know a whole lot more now than I did 2 months ago

You've outdone yourself totaly on this.

You hear it time and time again how much fun it is to see folks build their boats and it all come together.

If I could sum it all up, its great just to be a part of it all and make some good buddies along the way.:) Yeah, and nice to finally put a face with the name!

Can't find a flaw anywhere's. ;) The drive is a show piece in its self.

Amen to Jamie and his school of polishing 101  Jamie, Dusty, Thanks for the good words guys it actually does mean alot from you guys since I think both of your boats completely rock.
Rich B. did do a wicked job on that drive didn't he? Only ran me I think $ 85, not bad for an etched Ballantine Drive.

I figured you guys might want to see what I look like since I consider you friends. I'm not the prettiest but from what I hear I at least make a good looking boat. Oh yea, and kids to:D :D :D

You know after hearing all about racing I really think after I get my feet wet a little i'm going to give it a shot and I really do like team wakeballs racing. it's unique. I think I'll give the guy a call who did my stars and see what he could do. what do you think my friends?????

When i said "in love with any gas boat" I didn't mean to dismiss your awsome boat there and all your hard work.

I can only imagine how proud you must feel.

All your hard work and patience will be enjoyed now, and admired by everyone who sees it. :9

Me for one!
:D

PS: Would even love it more to see an mpeg of it going!!!

What part of our planet do you call home? I like your enthusiasm toward these boats and would like to see you enjoy one for yourself.

As you already know; they are easy as cake!

The gas takes a lot of the headache away.
With the money for a quart of nitro you can buy enough gas & oil to last you a good hour of run time.
Price for maint. is about the same as with a nitro.
Speed is very compareable.
SIZE---- Yeah baby. Size for $'s is what you mentioned a while back.

I personally haven't put mine through a good beating yet (protected waters so far) but am sure it will handle itself fine as long as the operator knows when to back out.

Can't wait to hear what Steve has to say about that!

Let us know what we can do besides signing the check:D

I think my camera will shoot like a 15 sec video clip so i'll have to try to post some vids this weekend if i can.

I'm working on putting the can back on as we speak. Just wanted to check the mail and see if anyone had responded to the pipe on ebay.

Also taking all those cheesy stickers off. Even thinking about the 'superG' one also. Seems to give it cleaner lines.

HEY ! Going shopping tomorrow for a plane! Electric, but still a plane! If all goes well, I'll post later.

Looking for planes (electric) is what got me in this forum.
a buddy and i were wanting to start with the new firebird II.

I have a nitro plane, the seamaster, that the wife got for one of my earlier birthdays. Was almost finished by someone and included the .46 TT nitro that i have on my airboat.
both for $200. Here the motor is worth $170 so i got the plane for $30 in my mind.:D

hasn't touched air or water yet. Got the 6CH but not a lot of time to do the finishing touches to the plane. Since i've had it i put the servos in and linked it up, just to put the motor back to rig the throttle.

Getting the itch to start something soon:)

it's just that the gear was installed to far ahead so it sits on it's rear wheels and the tail, not that it matters for water but....

i guess the main prob is that i don't have a spot to leave things out and go back to it later. I live in an apartment so if i start something i have to pick it up whether i'm finished or not when i go to do something else:(
so i don't start anything:rolleyes:

I live across from Ottawa on the quebec side, but no i don't speak french:)

wife and I are workin on that.

guess i will post a pic of the plane since i mentioned it;)
sittin on her tail as i said

Going back through the threads and have to say, thats a nice plane.

It'd be funny to fly it low enough for me to drown out the engine with my roost in a race lol.

Came real close to putting floats on a plane many years ago but never did. You guys up north got it made with all those lakes around.

that would be a trip:D

I chose this plane cause it is part boat and i know how to handle a boat. Never flew a plane yet. :D

will start by taxi ing it around then make short takeoff's and landings. Then if i live through that, then i will go flying.

Wife and kids are gone for 2 weeks so i have time to spend on the stuff without picking it up till i am done.:D
Will get a lot done in 10 days;)

Will try to get a video of my boat, even though it is an air boat.
May even get the plane in the water, and untill it gets in the air i am considering it a boat. LOL Another air boat. :D

LOL. She might come home early and then you'll be in a sling... Just tell her the Double made you do it:D

Hey, what kind of airfoil does that plane have? Is it flat bottom with a pretty good dose of diheadral (V in the wing)? If you aren't familiar with planes, I'd be careful.

I remember telling my folks about one of my first planes. "Yeah, I'm going to go taxi it around". My Pops made me take the wing off (in your case you can't) because she'll get off the surface before you know it.

Still, it sounds like a ton of fun!

Hey, just completed the last coat of epoxy on the airboat. Now to sand and paint.

FlyerCAN
07-13-2003, 03:48 PM
from what i've seen it is a performance wing with the same shape on top and bottom. Curved on top and bottom. Guess that means no lift?

You doing an air boat kit?
Show me!

I chose the air boat years ago mainly cause the river i cruised it in was full of weeds and got in the prop of my electric all the time. Just a nikko shockwave hydro-foil from radioshack, but it is what got me started. Lots of fun the air boat, but it's not called air boat for nothing:mad: . Every time she got air she ended up upsidedown. Engine submerged:mad:

More like a scratch built.

It had a hard time staying afloat so I've added a center section to make it a shallow tunnel. Had to seal everything up and we'll see how it goes.
