Ive had my Lehner basic 5300 motor/ warrior 7018 esc for a few months. Its been in my TC3 just for some speed runs and fooling around. Ive always planned on going brushless in my E-Maxx, and after burning out my EVX a few days ago, i decided now is the time to make the swap. I put the BL setup in the E-Maxx today using stock gearing and 7 cells. I noticed a slight increase over stock, but the esc/batteries were BURNING HOT and i couldnt touch the esc heatsink for more than 2 seconds (this is after 5 minutes of running). So i assume this is a gearing issue, how should i gear it? Also, i wanted to use 10 cells, can the warrior 7018 esc handle 10? If so, how should i gear this? Thanks.

Try 12/72 with 10 cells. Even at that it may be a bit over geared.
The 5300 is a VERY high rpm/volt motor not very well suited to an Emaxx in a single motor setup... dual 5300 setup is another story :D
Two Basic 5300's on 8- 10 cells each should be able to pull a gear ratio close to stock, would be stoopid fast :D
