Yea yea, so any maxxers out there know the stock screws are, well, sub-par shall we say. After stripping the heads of the shock mounting screws very badly, I decided to get a hex screw kit. So, I looked around, and saw RC Raven's and I know ppl who like them, so I got their blue zinc kit. Man, those things stripped before I could even fully tighten them. I got two in on the skidplate, and then they stripped. Sooo... I "got" to cut the skidplate in order to be able to get a wrench to the screws. Plus, the set didn't even have shock screws! Anybody, please, what's a good screw set for my Maxx?

Why get screw sets? Why not get screws of varying sizes, that way, you'll always have some....incase something happens?
Try MicroFasteners. (http://www.microfasteners.com/) They have both, stainless & alloy steel. The alloy steel are grade 12.9, strong enough to use as a tap for aluminum! And you can't beat their prices!

gotfire420, this is my opinion, making screw sets for specific cars/trucks is mainly for convenience, much like a "convenience store". By ordering specific sizes, you know that you will always have "extras". With screw sets, you won't....and if you lose one.......! In the long run, as well as the in the short run, buying them by size/length is cheaper.
I'm only guessing, but, screw sets for a specific car/truck run around $20-$30; for that amount, going thru MicroFastener, you'd have more than enough screws, even if you lost some. And if you want to add custom accessories, you know you'll have the screws. (just my $0.02, inflation not withstanding)

I just went to the hardware store and grabbed handfuls of screws, washers, and nuts. I know they are gonna pop out sometime or another ya know. So I stocked up. I got bags full of them.
Also a good hint is if you know anyone who works for a major company take for ex. GE. If you know someone who works there you might ask them if they can grab you a handful every other day like I did. :D

4x4_Racer, the thing about the screws at a hardware store is that they are a "soft" grade screw, maybe grade 3 or 5. RC truck screws need to be grade 10 or better, tho, on some applications, a "softer" screw will suffice.
Your friend at GE might even get the Supply Room to order you screws at a terriffic discount, too.

Yeah, the lower screws on the towers are really hard to get out. One of the few things I hate about traxxas maxx trucks(the other one being cheap skids and bulkheads, but thats a diffrent story)

You're kinda coming off as a tool here. He helped to answer your question, and is not "advertising" on "your" post. He's obviously used their products and had good results and is now passing that information along. You're certainly not going to have too many qualified people helping you the next time you have a question if this is what they can expect as thanks.

I acknowledge the post, and duly appreciate it. However, when he posts replies over and over saying essentially the same thing, it makes me wonder is all.

IMO, most screw related issues are really tool issues. I too was stripping the stock Maxx (and Rustler, and 4-tec) screws, thought they were just low quality, then got a Trinity phillips head driver and they were fine. No more stripped heads, the screws went in easier--no more problems. Are there better screws? Sure. But a better tool made most of the problems dissapear.
Also, I had problems with the smaller hex screws on my Losi XXX. I had the hole so stripped that the little L-Wrench wouldn't grab anything. I got a set of the Losi drivers, suddenly even the most stripped screw had enough bite to tighten or remove.
My point, be sure your tools are up to par before worrying about updated screws.
