Alright did some gps-ing and man am I disapointed. I knew I would have to play to get any halfway decent #'s but I thought I would be at at least 35 from the get go....... Gps @ 27. I had to pull the trim tabs they were causing me to loose almost 2.5 mph. The guy I got the motor from told me that if I put a X482/3 on there I should gain from 3-5 mph. Macs are torque motors not rpm motors. wish I had known more before I bought the mac but damn that thing is soooooooooooo reliable so far. Three pulls cold or hot and its running. Hasn't died on me yet.

????????? now is, how much more can I gain out of a motor that wasn't built to rap out? Do you guys know any simple mods I can do to try to get any additional speed out of my boat. I'm running a 46 deep vee with a stock air cooled 32cc mac, canister exhaust, ballantine surface drive w/ P275 prop, octura rudder placed 1/4" outside of right stringer with the trailing edge of the rudder @ the leading edge of the prop. The boat seems to have a good attitude at speed. It rolls to the right a little at take off but seems to get up to speed fairly quick. it appears at speed that the last 1/3 of the boat is all that is touching water. Going to try to play with some props but don't really know anyone yet that I can get with to help or to swap to test with.

On the bright side I found out the radio box is sealed like a biotch. Was running in some waves when the transom came out of the water on a turn (due to wave) as I watched the entire rear end go under and back up. I drained alot of water but nothin inside was even slightly wet. Nice to know since I'm sure it won't be the first or the last.
Alright enough of my rambaling. Any help would be appreciated.

Play with props and setup.

Without going into the engine, spend time tinkering and tweaking. You've got a pipe right? A pipe is almost a guarantee'd 5 mph after a prop change or two.

Testing takes time and you'll get there with no problems. Take the GPS, get it out there for a good straight and let it rip. Bring it in, take the #'s and adjust the strut a little up or down taking more notes. Do it again with the strut.

After you've finished the strut portion, start over again with another prop. Pain the neck, but fun. I live for testing, but am not one for digging into an engine.

Yea bud, My best speed is with the strut all the way down. I'm going to shim it it tonight at the top so it can go aittle further if it don't dont' work for speed I know I can come back to where I am now. I just thought I'd have at least 35. Gosh, Shuck and Golly darn. I added another hole to the exhuast only had One but I didn't see any change one way or the other. I also want to run in an SLS class bro and I believe you can't run a pipe or bigger carb in that class.

Just a quick thought Jamie.... So depending on the prop will depend on my strut location to get the best speed?

With full scale, the higher you jack it up, the higher pitch you can run.... (to a certain degree, till the paddlewheel effect becomes substantial and you the boat runs too loose) but it will gain rev's.

Also, typically the higher you raise it, the less effect a prop has on holding the bow up if its designed to do that because it looses grip.

Experiment.

I saw over 1 mph difference with it high and low with the same prop;)
