Ok, I know the answer, but I'm probably gonna explain it badly ;)

Basically the crystal controls what frequency the radio signal is. You have one for the transmitter and one for the receiver in your car. They are slightly different, so a transmitter crystal only works with the transmitter and receiver with receiver...

They are paired up so that the transmitter and receiver are on the same frequency. If you have 2 people with the same frequency then you get bad interfearance. one transmitter may have a stronger signal so therefore, controlling both cars.

The main reason transmitters being switched on in the pits during races is generally banned at most clubs.

Hope that makes sense :)

Use your fingers to tug it out gently, or it can break ,never use any tools if possible.

To avoid all this mess i've switched to a JR XS3 radio, it is synthesized as is the included reciever. To change frequency you only twist the frequency adjusters on the reciever and change the channel digitally in the transmitter, very trick!....Did I mention the radio came with servos that you can actually use to race!!! Rather then the usual junk!...:), Jim

Ok, i think i know where it is......I have an older futaba pistol, which is probably what you have. Holding the pistol, look at the front. There will either be the actuall crystal (which is silver looking with a yellow tag), or a little piece of plastic, which holds the crystal. Just pull that little piece of plastic out, and the crystal should be in the plastic holder. The plastic holder is like 1cm by .5cm. The only other place i can think of is on the right side, near the front. You will either see the plasic holder or the crystal its self. Hope that helps
