A guy at a LHS shop told me not to bring wd40 near my engine... and another guy i know who is REALLY good with Nitro engines tell me he cleans his engine out wiht wd40 all the time is it ok to clean it out with that stuff?

Your best bet is to use a Nitro cleaner and an old tooth brush on the outside of the engine if you get dirt and gunk buildup.

WD40 will help to clean out the inside of the engine. WD40 has some solvents that will clean the gunk out of the inside and it is not bad for it. I have used WD40 for short term ARO "less then a Week" but I perfer Marvel Mystery Oil and use it all the time.

WD-40 will work fine. A lot of people use it as an after run oil. The basic usage of after run oil is as a rust inhibitor and a little bit of lube during your next start up.

It will work fine for cleaning as well.

My favcorite is Marvels Mystery Oil, but I use WD-40 quite often. it has never hurt anything.

If I remember correctly, one of the Traxxas DVD videos show the use of WD40 as an after run oil for the T-Maxx. And that is what I use as well.
