I understand the concept of BEC, so you don't have to have another battery pack for the receiver.

Is this feature provided by the receiver, or the ESC? I've been reading descriptions of the various radios I am interested in, and many come with a receiver and "battery box". I'm thinking, since I am going with ESC on the truck I build, that I won't need a battery box.

So, the basic question is, does it matter what receiver I buy (or that comes with the radio) to take advantage of BEC? Or is all that controlled by the ESC?

Thanks

(now after I've written that, I am totally confused, as my son has a Rustler with MSC, and there is no receiver battery either..sheesh)

a bec receiver is one that will allow the throttle channel to imput voltage into the receiver. the esc sends voltage to the receiver, instead of taking it from the receiver (like a servo does). this powers up the radio gear. its provided by the speed control, as the esc regulates the voltage comming from the battery pack.

i belive all receivers and esc's (exept for brushless, im not sure on them) have a battery eliminator curcuits in them, its become an indistry standard.
