Lol, to bad thats not true. The Stock Savage engine would never run set at 5 turns out on the main needle. Mines set at 3 1/2 turns out, and its just about perfect.
I do believe a stock savage can now wheelie.
The .21BB stock engine is now into phase 2 and has been through a tuning already. There was pictures of engine side / side on Maxxtraxx where you could easaly see the changes. Changes where noticeable and where affecting power, no doubt about it !
He is not the first one reporting that stock Savage now wheelie.
HPI has done a lot of slight invisible change on the RTR kit.
For some of the changes, you can only see the difference when you have both before and after pieces and a caliper in hand.
For other nobody can even tell, like for change on plastic chemical mix or subtle heat threatment change that does a big difference on steel.
Anyway, some of those changes have been divulge by HPI or spotted by users.
Small list:
- steering arm and upright change on mold
- steering arm and upright material process change
- added loctite on some strategic places
- turned shock towers screws (puncturated tank)
- air filter
- Heat treat of dogbones
- engine porting (sleeve and crank)
changes to come:
- tank baffle
I do believe there's way more that I don't know about !
Only my 0.02 Euro.

hi daff, does it mean the savage rtr is more durable and higher performance now? any change in speed?
Yes, the new version has more torque down low and slightly more speed.
Don't ask me by how much, because it would really need extensive side / side testing with a watch and a speed gun in hand to find out.
But I can assure you the performance is better, it is a fact ! (altough the Savage RTR is not transformed into a high end powerfull beast LoL)
So, every new savage buyer should ensure they have the last version by asking the seller and knowing for how long it has been sitting on the shelf. Eventhough it seems Sav is a hot item and doesn't stay long on it :D
You can trust me on this because I've been HPI mod for a long time on the Nitro MT and was even asked to try new material and stuff on it. Nitro MT veteran would remember me along with the time and effort and did spend on it !!!
(not saying I am HPI king and a "know it all", just stating quick facts... I have been on the other side of the mirror )

Nope, and that's a pity...

Hi i did the dual tank mod and the 4spyder gear mod which is like a total of 50 dollars mod and after 1 tank my savage does wheelies but only on grass, also note my entire savage is aluminum so I can imagine its easier for a savage to wheelie with plastic parts.
HSN at 5 turns out? sounds a little too rich to me, Even savage settings are HSN 3 1/2 turns from closed and thats for break in and is rich.
Burn rubber not your soul.

I'm sorry, am I blind, or does it say where you guys live? I live at more than a mile above sea level, and yea, that does affect needle settings, so........
I'm sorry guys, but not all of the USA is flat like down south....
