Hello guys,
I am worried about what car to ask for at christmas if i make the wrong decision i am stuck with it.
What would you guys suggest, i have seen a maxx running and it overheats like hell, i would go for a savage streight out but want i need to know what fuel to run in it, do you HAVE to run 20% nitro in it, i can only afford 10%, hpi say that it voids their warenty but i am not bothered about that as long as it runs good on 10%
Any help would be greatly appreciated.....thank you

Can't affort 20%? If you can't afford to pony up a couple extra bucks there's no way you can keep taht savage OR maxx running.

Most big blocks .21 engines do not like 10% nitro, they will run but you will not be happy with the way it runs. The same thing if you were to choose the TMaxx TRX 2.5 it will not pull the front wheels off the ground running 10%.
I am not going to tell you which one to buy because they are both great trucks and you be happy with either one. I have the TMaxx and would not run anything but 20% nitro in it.
A properly tuned TMaxx will run in the 230 to 250 degree range stock and you can get those temps down with better cooling head.
Few thoughts

Well it is a little different here in the UK, tell me how much you pay for 20%.....i think i will go with the savage then but am still wonderous how you can get a t-maxx 2.5 to run so cool

I tune it everytime I run it.... if it hits 260 Deg I richen the HSN about 1/8 turn. I check my temps during the first tank after a few minutes of running.
I live in Georgia USA and it is very Hot & Humid here everyday changes. I have the LSN dialed in and rarely touch it. It took me a few months to get the tuning right because it was my first slide carb. It ran very hot until I hit the 15th tank of fuel because it was still breaking in. Break in is not limited to 6 tanks of fuel and I went thru 4 Glow plugs by the time I hit the 15th tank.
I do not run the stock body I run a Proline Military Hummer and have holes cut in the Front windsheild, the side windows and the rear windows for airflow across the engine.
My TMaxx will stand on end everytime I run it.
I pay $26.00 US a gallon for Traxxas Top Fuel

Maxx,
Do you have the front windshield hole cut and the passenger and driver side windows cut? If not you need more air flow across the engine. I also run a Proline Jeep CJ8 on my TMaxx.
The stock body does not allow for proper air flow but if you cut holes in all the windows it will help to get temps down.
Tuning even in Nashville is like it here in GA

Savage - I have not broken one part yet, and it always starts on the third pull.
