I dont understand your question, but HPI has done this before, with good results.
HPI Savage in Kit form with a better Motor and Drive Shafts.
They did the same with the RTR 3. The RTR 3 SS.

I think the "Big Deal" is the fact that people want kits for the fun of building. Its not like "Hey look we are offering a new thing" Its "Hey you wanted a Savage and want the pleasure of building it yourself so its more a part of you? Well here is your truck" I think its great that they are now offering a kit form. I wish I would have had the ability to get a kit when I bought mine. I love my truck but you get a real sense of "This is my truck" when you build your own. I think HPI is doing a great job of bringing to the market what people want. Way to go HPI. I think if Traxxas did the same people would be happy to. Or any company for that matter. RTR's are great but some people want the sense of accomplishment that comes from building your truck.
My 2 cents =P

im glad they are coming out with a kit.building your truck from the ground up is the best way to go!even for the beginners, once finished they will have a sense of accomplishment and they will know there truck in and out! unlike now...most users just wanna run it and dont know jack S%#^ about what makes the truck tick!
better for everyone this way!!!
my 2 cents

that, and they say that usually kit buyers are more experienced r/c drivers and already ahve a radio system that will work well with the kit... its cheaper than the RTR and has a bigger engin... whats there not to like!?

I still think they should have left the engine out, most people still wnat to choose their own. I bet you could unload it pretty quick on EBAY though.

I like the idea of the kit. I wanted a Maxx real bad, but never had the money. Then I got a an E-maxx, and I'm in the process of rebuilding it, just for that reason: "so the truck can be more a part of me", but rebuilding is no fun. So now I think I will have the beast of electrical MT's, the E-Maxx, and the beast of Nitro MT's, the Savage SS. Thanks guys, towerhobbies.com isn't a real help...
