i want to buy a peak charger and it isnt a timer charger. which is what i am used to. my charger will output 4.0 amps. it is the new DuraTrax® Piranha DC Peak Charger NiCd/NiMH. i really want it because it is inexpensive and can charge a large range of battery packs. i just want to figure out how to determine how many hours to leave my battery packs charge. an equation would be helpful, or just plain english too.

ok, the formula is

battery capacity/ charge rate=charge time

but thats the beauty of a peak charger, you dont have to wory about how long to charge them, its all automatic.

I just picked up the Duratrax IntelliPeak Mini Pulse Charger and (2) Duratrax Shark 1500mAh packs. I was wondering what's the best way to charge these packs. I have no clue what amp rate to use or what type of charge: (discharge + peak, just peak, etc...)

Can anybody shed some light on a newbie's question?

Thanks!!

Jay

discharge at 10 amps. a good charge rate is 4 amps. i charge packs higher, but they are higher capacity cells. 4 amps should work just fine.

Thanks so much! I think I can only discharge at 2 amps. How long should it take to charge at 4 amps?

battery capacity/ charge rate=charge time
1500/4000=.375 hours or 22.5 minutes approximately
