View Full Version : Best Street/Race Comp #6 (Sponsored cars)

Welcome everyone to the Sixth Street/Race Competition!!

The Street/Race paint competition will be open for entrees for two weeks and will close at Midnight July 31th.

Each month we will hold a Best Paint and Street/Race competition. If you can’t get your bodies done this month, don’t worry there will be plenty more to come!!

The winning bodies may appear in Radio Control Car Action or R/C Nitro!!

Restrictions: All entrees to this competition must be an “Sponsored car.” By sponsored car, I mean the car must be either a race car brandishing real or well done RC sponsorships; or a street car with a sponsored theme to it (The Greedy 350Z is a perfect example of this).

RULES for Street/Race competition:

1) Any body may be submitted to the competition (Truck, buggy, touring car, etc).
2) Any body submitted may NOT appear in another competition.
3) Photo editing the pictures (other than cropping and adjusting brightness/contrast) is highly looked down upon and may result in disqualification.
4) Anyone may enter a body (professional painters are welcome!)
5) Please refrain from insulting bodies in anyway.
6) Must fall within this month's restrictions (May restrictions: Sponsored cars)
7) Only 2 entrees per person.
8) Bodies should be painted within the last 4 months.
9) Bodies must be of a "street" look or be painted in a race car style.

Each submission must include the following:
Body manufacturer and size.
Paint used.
Masks used (hand or precut)
Movie the car appeared in.
And of course, a body.

This month Wimmerma will be judging the Street/Race paint competition.

Each body will be judged by the following criteria (1-bad, 10-excellent):

Detail (score 1-10) (decals, grills, mirrors, roll cages, if its on a real car you score points here)
Design (score 1-10)
Execution (score 1-10)

The photo and background will not be judged. All that is needed is a clean photo that clearly shows the body.

Each month we will place some restriction on all entrees.

August restrictions:
Best Paint: No Restrictions!
Best street/race: No restrictions!

GOOD LUCK

Also in August we will have our first Jr. Paint competition. Only people 17 years or younger may enter the competition. Other than that there will be no restrictions!

That is one of the coolest bodies I have ever seen!!!!!!!! As you can tell, we don't get cool stuff like that in the U.S.

FYI, speaking of Holden, the Holden Monaro is being rebadges over here as a Pontiac GTO. Same motor and everything.

Just an FYI, Holden is a GM company and they use GM's LS1 in the new GTO same as Holden.

No doubt that mugen is a great company for Hondas, but I'm with the other 50% that favor Spoon more.

As for my car/post, can a Moderator or Admin please pull my post. I tried to edit it but no joy.

As for the Mugen, You did an Awesome job! I'm going to have to do one for myself.

I've come to agree with the forum. No logo's = its not sponsored.

just a sidenote- messing with the brightness and contrast can clean up pictures a lot. For example the mercedes pics could use a little brightness reduction, and contrast increase. I've noticed a lot of digicams tend to overbrighten things. I have that problem with mine :/

CollectiveInk
07-29-2003, 09:25 PM
Yeah I know, my digital camera underexposes things greatly, and I did have to adjust the levels in photochop (and add a tiny lens flare......well, it was really sunny out  ) but any more than what I did, things got really washed out.

But I'm hoping that my car is enough to win this competition, considering the time spent in painting and creating a sponsor theme (not to mention handmaking all the decals). :D

Im sorry, but editing a photo beyond minor brightness/contrast adjustment is against the rules. For now I will tell the judge to simply disregard the outdoor pics and only judge the indoor ones. You are welcome to post the unedited outdoor pics if you wish.

Finally,

The Judging....

Sorry it took that long but had some other work to finish first.

There were many entries in the street/race competition #6.
Most of them are really good jobs, but only few really met the "sponsored" restriction.

Nevertheless I'll give a short statement for each body.

Maybe you find my opinion differs from yours...matter of taste...

DualBl
Yes you can enter this competition but sorry you didn't win.

ExtremeTmaxxer
Nice job but "Artic Cat" is not really meant for streets.:D

JGTCracer21
I like that Gold Black contrast. If you find some stickers just post it again. By the way 2001 is past the 4 week restriction.:p

red rado
Same as with JGTCracer. Just put on some great looking stikcers an enter again. You have the chance to win.
The King
Great flames. A bit too many of them on the hood. Seems you didn't even had space for stickers.
You also should paint the rear wing for scale appearance.

Kmac
Wow, really impressive. The golden flames really fit the Black/white body. Same to the checkers. Nice and clean job.
Stickers would ruin it. My opinion.:D

Now to the "sponsored" cars:

#10 goes to:
CollectiveInk
Nice job but...
In "my opinion" the color doesn't really fit to the body.
It's a bit too fancy for a race car.
The stickers are quite good. Funny you use "GS" on it. It means "checked security" and is mostly found on household electrics in Germany.
Also you should paint the antenna, wiper, etc.

#9 goes to:
Aluma
The side effects are well done as far as I could see.
The hood decals are a bit too simple. They seem not to be "made" for the car. Next time try putting it on a chassis. Should look better.

#8 goes to:
Raytrix
Looks pretty wild.
But as above you should paint the accessories.
The "Raybrig" stickers looks someway "off" in the front.

Well done. The plain design looks very good.Though the changing color is not seen white suits.
The spokes fit perfectly.
The window frames make it look like real.
Nice idea to try a "racing pickup".

#6 goes to:
TG10Runner
Great job. Nice to see a "european style " racer.
The Alialia design fits perfectly to the "Enzo" .
Unfortunately the car looks a bit empty in the front and the sides.
Put on some race numbers and cut the body posts and you're in business.

These cars are not too simple to paint. you did very well.
The wheels look like big ones.
But as TG10Runners' it looks a bit empty "sideways".
The numbers don't fit a race car like that. Try some different ones.
For scale appearance you also should attach some mirrors. I think they are available for those little ones?!

Looks like a real race car... when it's finished:;)
so cut out the things that need to be cut and...race.

The last 3...

Had some problems with the pictures? Don't worry.
Your car look's quite like a real factory ride racing car.
Silver/black always fits perfectly. sometimes fewer is more.
The only thing is your body posts. CUT IT!

#2 goes to:
BODZ
Nice idea not to use any body posts:cool:
What to say to a perfectly styled NASCAR?
It's not always the most complicated paint job that wins.

Know what I mean?!

This Enzo really turns me on. Plain and simple but nearly perfect look.Black is beautyful. It has the "Presentation" look of a sponsored Le Mans racer.
Maybe you should use dull sticker film to optimize those inlets.
The only thing is...
"Don't use "AMG" on anything else than a Mercedes Benz"

I'm sorry I didn't use the criteria model but I think it sometimes depends on the quality of the picture that makes differences.

I think all of the competitors did a great job and should go on with painting stickin glueing to enter the next round of the "street/race competition" series.

Thank you very much

Nice job but...
In "my opinion" the color doesn't really fit to the body.
It's a bit too fancy for a race car.
The stickers are quite good. Funny you use "GS" on it. It means "checked security" and is mostly found on household electrics in Germany.
Also you should paint the antenna, wiper, etc.

Here's whats left of the maloo. It only got 2 races, the first race I smashed two of the rims and the 2nd I trashed the rest of the body and broke the rear suspension.
