Yes that is correct, Most guys use them to power their DC chargers. Some are adjustable voltages and some are just fixed volts maybe from 12 to about 13.8
The higher amp rating the more you will pay for one. Theoretically you would need at least the amp rating that you are charging at, but more common is to double that rating. Like if you have a 6 amp charger then use at least a 12 amp power supply.
Hope this helps as I'm kinda new to power supplies.

yes, they plug into a standard outlet, and no, they're not expensive to run.

Hmm.. I am going to be racing at an outdoor track this year in the spring, so I need a power supply. I hope to get about a 24v one, just to be safe. I like Integy's she power supplies, but I need a DC charger for that, right? Hmm. I have a Duratrax Pirahna Digital Peak Charger, I think it is AC/DC. My question is this: "SHE power supply" has a female connecter, right? How will I, if I can, plug my charger into that?

Ugh... 24v into a charger that accepts a 12v input... That charger is going to take a dump...

If you are racing outdoors you will probably not have an outlet which means having a power supply would do you no good. You would need a generator to power the power supply. A DC charger will connect to a car battery. A power supply is used for a DC only charger so you can use it without a car battery.

Don't want a generator. I just want to be able to run 2 chargers, AC or DC.

If u want to run 2 chargers, you don't double the voltage, you double the amperage.
If your chargers are 12 volts and 6 amps each, in theory you would need a 12 volts and 12 amps (6*2) power supply.
I say in theory because you should have some more amperage in reserve... It does't need to be the double...

You don't want a 24V power supply or your charger will probably explode. You want a 12 - 13.8V power supply. I have found that a 10amp supply is more than enough to power r/c applications. Alternatively charge it off your real car battery :)

Yea stay away from 24volt.Alot of chargers will NOT accept this as a input voltage and will cause HAVOK on your stuff.
Theory is if you charge at 5.0amps you at least need a 5 amp supply and more likely a 6-7 for spikes in the input line.
If you run 2 chargers then you need at least whatever amp your charging at multiplied by 2.
I have some 12-14 amp power supplies for $45.00 shipped if anyone is intrested.
Email me Direct at TexBouncer@aol.com for ?'s.

Search eBay for Cosel. You'll find all kinds. You should have some knowledge of AC/DC power, because you'll need to do a little work ($5-10 tops).

But, my question is this: Can I run my Pirahna Digital Peak Charger on this? I am not sure if my charger is AC/DC, or just AC. Can someone assist me in this mater?

According to this (http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxp4005.html), your charger is AC/DC. You don't have any instructions that came with the charger? According to the instructions (http://www.duratrax.com/pdf/dtxp4005-manual.pdf), there's a set of alligator clips (I would guess on the back) that hook up to a battery or Power Supply.
To be honest with you, since you had to ask that question, building your own power supply is NOT for you.
