You may see my post below about piggybacks for big bores, but I was j/w if anyone has had good experiences with some other Maxx upgrade shocks? I'm TRYING not to spend more than 100, but I'm flexible. THx all...

UE SuperShocks, considered one of the best, if not the best. 1/8th Scale size allows you to run four shocks instead of 8 if you have a normeral weighted truck. http://monstermaxx.com/shocks.shtml

RenegadeRc.com has 'em for like $67 bucks for 4.

Is it best to put the UE SuperShocks on the outside or inside of the shock towers? They look very good, and I love the idea of only needing 4!

The Dynamite/Losi shocks are a very good upgrade also. Cost about the same as any other set and they are very good quality.

If you just want to go cheap I would suggest just rebuilding the stock shocks, put the prefered weight shock oil in them and either CA gluing the tops on or using JB Weld. CA works really well.

Oh I see so then you just refill them from the bottom cap if needed correct? Only thing is if you hit something hard enough could the plastic shock just crack wide open if the tops are glued on?:(

You could fill them from the bottom if needed, but you can also boil the tops to loosen the CA and if you crack them wide open remember, this is the cheap version. You can always buy more when or if this happens. Although I've heard of people doing this and as much as I think Traxxas parts are crappy, I've never busted a shock body.

how can you say their parts are crappy?! My Maxx is so sturdy, I've busted one arm on a 20 foot jump that my car landed on one arm. Come on, you know a lot of trucks out there would've fared MUCH worse...

To each his own.

Why is it your upgrading your shocks?

A wiser option would be to invest in an interest earning account because as long as you own a Maxx your going to need deep pockets. :p

Just my opinion.;)

Damn, that's actually a good idea. The ever-existant problem of now vs. later is a factor in this though. While it would be prudent to invest the money and have more LATER... I could spend this money, and while have less, still have something NOW. But hey, it is a good idea.

Ah but do you need something now or are you just looking to spend money because you have some?

There's that one vid. of the Savage getting 15-20 feet in the air, landing upside down, front and rear bumpers, and broke nothing, but this was in an asphalt parking lot. LoL ..

About durability, you guys are saying the Maxx is weak. MMMM, before the maxx, there was absolutely no stock truck that could take that kind of abuse. The Maxx set a new level in abuse, and then all the other manufacturers had to come along and make there own models so they too could make some money. All of this said, for about 3 years I wanted a maxx, knowing the market, I waited, now I want a savage SS, but I think i'm gonna act on this one. Just because of the TVP, and for nothing else, oh yea, the size... And I already have an E-Maxx...
