The Microsizer lap counter is made for micro cars, but i was wondering if it could work for 1/10 scale. I would like to use it for my backyard track:cool:

i'm not totally sure, but i think it just reads the frequency of the car as it crosses the line. Again, I'm not totally sure, but I think that's how they work. If this is the case, then it probably won't work for a 1/10 scale car.
If i can remember, I'll check the ones we have in stock at the shop tomorrow and let you know.

You can get a transponer system. They might be expensive though.

it is supposed to work with Mini-zs, Micros too from what I understand.
I have what I think is a rebadged microsizer lap counter. It uses an infra-red beam, and when its broken (by a car crossing it), it will record a lap time. Obviously not too good with more than one car...
It comes with the counting unit and a seperate piece with some reflection foil on it. I haven't had a good test of it yet, but it seems it works reliably at a max distance of 15cm between the counter and foil. I would imagine a small mirror would increase the range, or if your handy with a soldering iron, you could replace the infra red LED with a more powerful one... otherwise, I don't think 15cm would be enough for 1/10 cars...
