hey all,
What is the best way to run fuel from 3 tanks. Maybe I should explain so you can get a better idea. The miss bud has a 5.5 oz tank. To increase my fuel capacity I am going to install (2) 2 oz. tanks. One on each side of the engine.
Plan 1:
Run the exhaust line from the pipe, Y it out to each of the pony tanks, have the pony tanks Y thier fuel lines together and into the pressure fitting on the main tank. From there it just goes to the carb.
Con:
If one tank draws down first it will not allow the fuel from the other pony tank to get to the main tank. In this case it will just finish the fuel off in the main tank. Might be enough to finish a race.
Plan 2:
Run my pressure line from the pipe to the tank on the stbd side, outlet from the stbd tank will be into the port tank, from the port tank the fuel goes to the main and then the carb.
Con:
Uneven balance on boat. Even though the stbd. side will be lighter because I am turning right it will still be off.
Plan 3:
Use an I.V bag.
Con:
Will a flexable I.V bag work since the feul needs to be pressureized.

Any ideas or advice will help.

merc- racing a miss bud?? did you put a .21 in it?
i would replace the main tank with however much is possible to fit, up to maybe 12 [im guessing you wont be able to fit more than 8 though], then put just one 2 or 3 oz hopper somewhere else. the IV bag should work also, though i've only seen those on gassers, i wonder why?

hey joe. are you coming up to maryland for the impba race in september. sept 6-7 is the first centenial shootout. they are running novice classes and also box stock miss bud and nitro hammer classes. I think that since this is my first race I will run the 21 bud in b hydro and :D novice.I have tryed putting tanks in I am moving the motor mounts and I only need about a 1/4" to fit an 8 oz. But 2 2 oz. tanks on the sides of the engines would look cool though.

1- 8oz and 1- 2oz hopper tank is more than enough fuel for a race with the 21 size engine. the best way to run the lines is to run the pressure line from the exhaust to the vent side of the 8oz tank, then from the pick-up of the 8oz. to the pressure side of the 2oz. then from the pick-up on the 2oz to the carb. This will keep the 2oz tank full of fuel at all time(until you run it out that is). With the hopper tank full at all times, it will stop the fuel line from getting air bubbles and stalling the engine.
I have run races with just 2-4oz tanks, it is just very close to running out of fuel at the end of the race.
You test to see if you have enough fuel just by putting yourself on a clock. 2 1/2 minutes for starting and milling, then run 6 laps, if you can make 7 or 8 laps after the 2 1/2 minutes you will be in real good shape.
