Well let's see now- I work at Hungate's at that exact mall...........
i shall check you out for sure! Also, I'll pass the word along to customers too. I mean duh. Hey, come in and see Tim at Hungate's today (Friday) from 10-5 or tomorrow (Sat) from 2-9:30 and tell me all your plans in person. Bring something tangeable (like a flyer) to put up and I will. I won't work on Sunday but I'll show up for sure.
cheerwhiner
07-25-2003, 08:21 AM
also, do you have permission from the management of the mall? If not I will not promote you in the store, however I will still watch LOL. Let me know ASAP- give me a call at those business times I listed above at 792-2824 (ask for Tim)- I may just print your website out and post it if that is OK> that looks to be all I need. Thanks.
also if you are on the wolf web I am the same guy there, cheerwhiner

Tim-
I tried calling the # you posted but the woman I spoke to said that you don't work there!? Anyways, we actually don't have permission from the mall as of yet. The security guard was cool with it as long as we stayed off the grass.
Also, do you know who I would need to talk to about getting permission?? That'd be a huge help. :)
As far as flyers go, I do have some made up but it's pretty much just the website anyway.
We'll see ya sunday!

07-25-2003, 05:54 PM
weird, it may have been the new girl that answered the phone LOL. anyway I swear on my own grave I work there LOL. I may have given you the wrong number, but I do work at Hungate's in Cary Towne Center. Anyway, you will need to contact the mall management to get official permission, otherwise I will not promote you to customers (got to cover our own store's a$$ ya know). Hey, if you guys are runnin touring cars, you should just come to Durham on Sunday. If you have enough people, they'll even have a run whatever class where you can just run 5 guys with whatever cars together. I live right by Cary Towne Center, and it only takes me about 20 minutes to get there.....I'm gonna try to make it out to CTC on Sunday, but I'll be racing in Durham during the day, so I don't know if I'll make it.

07-25-2003, 10:07 PM
The thing with Durham is that most of us work til 6 on sunday. CTC is closer for most of us and we do have more than just touring. A bunch of us have e-maxxes and trucks that we mess around with on jumps in the parking lot. The Sunday night meetings is just a way for us to get together, hang out and mess around with our rc's.
If we get enough people together that want to step up the competition we can make a trip to durham. I've been going for a while now and Don (the guy that runs Durham) said we could go whenever we wanted.

07-27-2003, 10:15 AM
also if anyone here goes, I will be wearing a red IndyRacing League hat and a blue shirt and probably sipping on a bottle of Cheerwine (duh). However I won't have a car except maybe my MAR toys Formula One car which is the only thing I would put in a parking lot right now. Haven't got my electric sedan yet, need to save tuition money LOL>

hello guys.. i have just started racing touring cars at Rosewood Speedway in Goldsboro. the wife has family in your area, so we will stop by and check things out. right now i am running a tc3, and i have a truck that is street ready, as well as a legends car too. by the way, where at cary towne center is everything set up?
zooyork155
07-27-2003, 09:31 PM
Hey everybody!
Turns out the Towne Center was a bust (literally). The Rent-A-Cop kicked us out so we ended up at Big-Lots(?) off of Tryon Rd. near Garner. The surface isn't as nice as Cary but at least there's no hassle.
Lots of trips/vacations coming up so we might be taking a break for the next two weeks or so. Check the web for updates on location and dates over the next week or so.
To all those that did show up, we had a good time. Still no pictures though. We need to get some digital camera shots so I can post pics on the site!! See ya round :)
cheerwhiner
07-28-2003, 08:42 AM
damnit i forgot i had my digital camera last night! I have it with me almost all of the time. Next time I'll be sure to use it. Maybe I'll have that TC3 by then too LOL
btw a lot of guys have tc3s in our little club right now too- and some e-maxxes. that was great when they were climbing eachother.
Basically where the abandoned Farm Fresh/Big Lots/ Furniture outlet is on 401 across from Bojangles but before the 70/401 split if you come from downtown is where we are talking about. Right now if some more people could bring cones it would be nice- our um "track" was not very good yesterday. However, we are just starting out and hell I don't even have a 'real' car yet, but all of the members are nice about me playing around with the 9.6 v one I had too. Hell I let them use my cones LOL
also right next to the parking lot is a big grassy area with dirt, perfect for some truck action. Also the parking lot has lights that come on so that is good for us to stay later if necessary. I could see this becoming big HOWEVER we need to make sure to clean up anything we leave behind so as not to get people pissed at us. Also maybe stay limited to electric for the cars, a few nitro trucks could be OK, but this lot would not be suitable for racing nitro cars (IMHO). WE did have a lot of onlookers drive by, and one van kept driving real close to where we were.

What's up with dissing the Nitros? I was looking forward to coming out sometime. . .
zooyork155
07-28-2003, 03:09 PM
Nitros are more than welcome :p ! I think he just meant that the surface was a little gritty and needs to be swept off so nitros might not have the control at high speeds. The club is welcome to all comers so come out and have a ball!!! :D
cheerwhiner
07-28-2003, 07:43 PM
that is exactly what I meant! The original lot at the mall would have been fine, but this new parking lot is nowhere near as nice. There are dips for drainage gutters throughout the lot and also a LOT of trash that is left out there. However, nitro trucks would have no problem (like I said before).
Yeah bring anything you want just be cautious for a while if you bring a nitro car.
I may take some pictures of the lot this week while its empty so everyone can get an idea. Those drainage things are about 50 feet apart.
Ron Zee
07-31-2003, 08:04 PM
Wasn't this mall where the original track was before we moved to the "new" Durham location?? If so,,, that mall wasn't too thrilled with us back then,, they always wanted the guys out of there when the mall would close. Then again,, back then we were pulling in about 100 guys every other Sunday.
But, if you guys ever want to run on a nice road course with smooth asphalt,, either Duram on Sundays, or Rosewood R/C Raceway in Goldsboro on Saturdays. And hopefully soon, Rosewood will be running indoor onroad carpet racing for the winter time. Sorry, seeing as it's indoors, no nitro. Carbon Monoxide you know,,

are we up for this sunday? again, i won't have my new car by then damnit lol
cheerwhiner
08-05-2003, 08:20 AM
now I may be going to the F1 race in September so I may have to save up for that now too, we'll see. I can wait for the car, but that race is only once a year!
cheerwhiner
08-05-2003, 09:01 PM
OK I will owe my parents about how much this car will cost to go to the F1 race and they already bought airline tickets and the tickets to the race. SOOO I may be waiting a lot longer before getting the car. Hell by then I will have read how to basically build it from scratch, I may get the kit instead of the RTR!!

I already have one for my R/C group...Its a homeschool group. Do any of you have a Comm cutter? I can't find any place around here that will cutt the comms. Tim, can you order parts at hungates? Like for a TA03F? Particularly front+rear gearboxs, and gears? That sucks that you got kicked outa cary town parking lot...I'm trying to think of a good place to race street at... Oh, one last thing, what channels do you all operate at? I have 62, 77, 76,75, (75mhz Am), and 65 (75mh Fm).

I have recently heard about the new track and i am so excited! can't wait to see it. i am posting this message (though it may be slightly unrelated) to inform anyone in the area about the new Triangle R/C Club (TRC). this is a forming club that is trying to recruit interested parties. We race all types of cars/trucks etc. We currently hold weekly meetings in Raleigh, though we would like to make it to the durham track more, and i'm sure we will do so once the new dirt track opens. I've heard of the sunday morning races, but currently due to availability most of our members are unable to attend these sunday races since they work. Anyway we hold our meetings Sunday nights at 7:00/7:30 in the parking lot behind Wendy's/Enterprise Car Rental in the shopping center on the corner of South Saunders Street and Tryon Road. we are inviting anyone interested and hope to see lots of people associated with all types of r/c vehicles and all levels of experience. if you have any comments or questions please email me.
thanks

State's campus. take the beltline towards cary (if your coming from raleigh) (coming from cary take the beltline towards cary - us1 north) and take the Hillsboro St. exit (exit #3), make a left at the light. you will go through 4 lights. at the fifth light make a right (you can only go right) onto Dan Allen Dr. there will be a large building on your right and a parking deck directly behind it. this is the dan allen deck. call me if you have any questions (919) 395-3069

I should clarify and say I bought this on ebay, and the guy has been very good at responding to my emails. I have an arangment to get it here before the weekend, I paid a little more for shipping to do so but I don't care, not too much, just want to have it for our meeting. Plus I am NOT working on Sunday, so I can get it all ready during the day. He already built the kit, just bought a t4 and was looking to sell this with the radio and some batteries and a charger, along with parts for it. So I should be ready to run with you all on Sunday. BTW it will have a Reedy 9 turn motor as one of the 2 motors he is sending  :D

Well I got the battery apart, but the plug on the ESC will not allow a battery to fully connect to it. I can run the truck, but at about 1/3 of the speed you all saw on Sunday. Since I have to solder a new connection onto the ESC, I am going to wait and get Dean's instead. Hopefully I will have it all done before Sunday. Other than that, the truck is completley clean and ready to sit for the week.
I will take a trip to the "other" store because my store does not stock this connectors  (but hell any toy they have now   )

Hey you guys
I've been wanting to go race up in durham for awhile, but my parents dont like the 45 min drive... I have a NTC3 (For sale!!) and a Savage... I'm selling the TC3 for a TRICKED OUT GT from a friend online... anyways, I really hope to make it out to one of your meetings. I know I've bugged don too much with no turnout to anything I said, so do you guys know when the drit track is open?
I hope to see you all soon, and I get my liscence in may, so I'll be up at the track, without depending on my parents :D. Whenever you guys meet.. I have a savage to drive ;)

I forgot to metion to you guys, I mod at Affordable Nitro Tech.com (www.affordablenitrotech.com/forum) if you guys want to come check that site out... I'm Victor on there, and I mod the savage forum. Alot of knowladgeable people there... Hope to see you guys soon, I'll check this thread often.

I missed ya'll today. I was there at about five and ran my Savage once. I think I have a leak in the tank. It's not running right at half tank. Anyway,I have to be at work at 3am tomorrow and didn't want to stay to long. Maybe next time.

We usually get out there about 7 PM. Much fun tonight. Rain won't stop us anymore!!

EMaxx, Its probably due to your needle settings - The savage has an unusually large tank, and it likes to lean itself out over the duration of the run. By no means am I questioning your tuning, I was just saying it happens to me... Not this weekend guys, next I'll be out there.
cheerwhiner
09-23-2003, 09:34 AM
I will make every effort to be out there a week from Sunday. I just ordered some stuff from Tower to solder on and install, so I will be ready equipment wise. Other than having to do homework, I don't see why I won't be able to come.

I noticed when I primmed it,there was fuel comming out around the primer. I might plug the primer and use the pipe to prime.

You may have an air leak around there - not a good thing. When I come out in a coupple weeks, I'll bring my high temp silicone sealent, if you dont have any... save ya $5. Do you know if it runs hot and stalls? Or does it "bog" and die... If its lean, it'll rev up and die. Also, when I come, I never leave home without my temp gun... If you can get out there, I'm sure we can fix it ;)

oh no we have some nitro guys coming out now :D
zooyork155
09-23-2003, 09:23 PM
THE MORE THE MERRIER!!!!. they'll still be eating my rubber on a short course. Forget drag racing though.
Seriously though, anyone that wants to come out should bring whatever they've got running. I'd love to get enough people out to structure some real racing!!

are you guys currently doing any racing as far as gas trucks ? i have a losi xxxnt and an associated rc10 gt. i know it has been posted ,but when and where exactly do you race at? thanks
cheerwhiner
09-24-2003, 11:35 AM
nobody has brought any nitro vehicles out yet. Two possible memebers who are planning on coming will bring nitro monster trucks. Everyone else has either E Maxxes or electric stadium trucks. We get together in Garner on Sunday nights. I will let Zooky give you more details, I consider him to be the founder and in charge. Hope that helps. Yeah, you would beat us all in racing, but right now we are about bashing, jumping, just having fun, not looking to really be serious about racing- just socializing, ect. Meeting people in the area with the same hobby is the main idea, I think.

I live in Raleigh and I want to get into RC. There probably arent any tracks in Raleigh are there? Doesnt seem like this place has many RC fans in it, Raleigh isnt a very good place to live haha. Anyway if you guys could give me some info on getting started or whatever I would appreciate it.

There are plenty of tracks around Raleigh!!!
1) The Race Factory in Cary: Slot Car facility with a nice technical carpet layout for R/C. Even though it's small...the 1/10 touring cars are consistently the largest class...enought for "B" and "A" mains. It's a great track for Mini-Ts and Micros with the Mini-Ts turning only one to two less laps in the main than the 1/10 tourers!
2) The R/C Speedway at Wheels family fun park in Durham. This track has it all: A smaller but really cool dirt track, a BIG asphalt track and a nice concrete track for the Mini-Ts and Micros.
3) Apex R/C has a "club" and is currently building an off-road track. Not surprising because the owner of Apex R/C is BIG into Monster Trucks
4) If you don't mind going to Goldsboro, there's Rosewood Speedway with indoor carpet and outdoor asphalt.
Let me know if you want more info...I'll tell you who to get in touch with.

I would love for us Raleigh guys to try to setup a time and place to just meet in a parking lot to do some bashing and fun racing. Its tough to always make the it out to Durham to run at the track but would love to meet and run with some of you guys here in town sometime.

I am very glad to see some new racers in this area. Bad2dbone is right. There are lots of good race tracks in this area. I live in N.Raleigh. I'm 45 min. from Rosewood, 20 min. from TRF in Cary and 25 min. from Durham. In my opinion that puts me right in the middle of my racing universe. This forum is the best place to find out whats going on so point your fellow rc'ers this way. I would like to meet some racers in Raleigh but to be honest, parking lot bashing gets boring real quick. I much prefer testing my skills(if you could call them skills) against other drivers on a technical track layout. Getting to know other racers and forming some friendships has actually made this hobby even more addicting to me. So - come on out and race with us - all skill levels welcome.

I agree with you all, I love going to the track to race against others on a nice defined course. But I also love to meet people and just go bashing when I don't have a lot of time. It takes me 30 min to get to durham and another 30 back. Sometimes I can't give up that much time and would rather spend that time in a nice lot with others chatting and driving around. I'd love to go out tomorrow (Sunday) for some parking lot racing...anybody in

BLBncsu - Why don't you come to The Race Factory on Sunday. Practice starts at 12:00 and racing starts around 2:00. We race 1/10th stock touring, 1/12th stock and usually a mini-t size class. Only about 20 minutes from N. Raleigh. Hope you can make it out. Thats where me and Baddtwodeebone will be tomorow.

BlBncsu....try driving 2 hours there and two hours back three weeks in row only have MAYBE one or two people willing to stay past 12:30pm! guess how much time i gave up!!! that's 12 wasted hours..2.80 FULL tanks of fuel...623 miles..and very near $50 in 97 grade premium! i'm very thankful to guys like byron. even tho he knew the crowd would be thin...he'd come out just so i can have someone to run with. (at least i think..teehee) and he'd pretty much stay til the end. granted he lives closer than me but he chose to hang out instead of heading home and chilling out. i see it like this.....you've got no exscuse. (well...lazy might be one...:D)

Nomac- yeah laziness might be my excuse.
I'd love to check out the race-factory but its my understanding that they currently only run electrics there, no nitro's yet. I'm a nitro fan, being a mechanical engineer forces me to love engines, not electricity :)
Hope to make it out to Durham soon, are there many people there on a sunday afternoon or not?

There is a new indoor offroad track for mini-t's and rc18t's in Pine Level NC. Just a few minutes from Smithfield/Selma. Carpet track with jumps and bumps. We need more racers. This is a very easy way to race. Less than $200 total will make you as competitive as the next guy with no benefit to crazy battery and motor wars.
Check them out at Lasoraceway.com The folks are nice and the program is very efficiently run. You won't be out all day or night.
Please spread the word to anyone in the Raleigh/Clayton/Smithfield and surrounding areas about this track.
