im getting a Nitro Vee and will this be the right prop to buy for it?
Octura X440 40mm (1.57") 1.4 x 1.57 = 2.198" .187 $12.35
also do props come with shafts or not? If not, can someone give me a url to a site where i can buy the shaft/prop together?
also ive been lookin around these boards and heard that you gotta have them "balanced". Can someone tell me about that and how to get this done, i dont think i can do it though LOL.
Yes i am a noob to boats, will be my first boat but i do own 3 Tmaxxes(one 2.5, one hyper 21 8 port and another 2.5),Losi XXXNT with OS CVRX.12 and a Yokomo GT4, so im not new to nitro entirely.....
Can someone recommend me a fuel(brand and % of nitro)?
Also, if i shouldnt get a Vee, what boat should i get? ive heard good and bad things about the Miss bud 1/12 and the nitro hammer but the bad things kinda matter lol (like the miss bud cant run in choppy water as well as the others)
thanx

What nitro vee or you wanting to get? No the shafts do not come with the props. Props are not that hard to sharpen and blance, you could learn to do it. If you are planing to get one of them RTR nitros, with the 15 or 16 size motor the X440 will be too much for it. As for what boat to get, best I could tell you, is go to your local boat club and look around at what they have and watch them run, then decide which one you want.

One of my LHS's has a Nitro-Vee conversion kit from Octura and it does have the X440 prop in it. I too thought that the prop was too large for this boat. I didn't look at the kit too closely so I really don't know what all is in it besides the prop and some adapter shafts for the 3/16" props.
Try this site for Octura info and save it for future reference: http://www.pirespreto.com/octura_catalog.htm . It is for reference only, not a site for ordering Octura parts. If you like, you can contact my LHS at www.rlhobbies.com . Let them know that I sent you. They know me well, they have a lot of my hard earned money!:D

SHOCKWAVE 55" RTR W/ZENE23M &XR
Product Code: PRB2000
Category: Ready To Run Gas
Manufacturer: PRB, Proboats
SHOCKWAVE 55" RTR W/ZENE23M &XR
$1101.56
Woah, Ron do you know if this is the actual price for this thing? I thought i could save up like 800 or 900 and shell it out for this thing...but i dont know, could be just your LHS?

The street price is $800.00 for the Shockwave. If you look through the threads you will find comments from other Shockwave owners. Some are regretting buying one. A lot of problems out of the Factory which seems to be typical of Pro Boat boats. For those that think that I bitch too much about Pro Boat kits, I do own one, a Nitro Fury that is really made by DPI. It is a modified Shiada River Racer.

I can probably salvage the cash for a radio and servos....for 679 looks like a steal

What do you think of it? The Super-G version is worth a look at also. One thing to check when you get it is the hull bottom. It is known to have a hook in the bottom, more often known as a warp. It can be easily fixed with a little Bondo. The hull is heavier which would make it better for wave jumping. Tony has been in the business for years.

yeah, If i ever get one,the Super G would probably be it. Nice price..
What do you mean by "hook"?

Also how much would the radio and servos cost?

Boats use the same radios as cars do. If you get a big gas boat then you'll need a big servo, but otherwise same stuff, same price.

hmm, unless i want one of those stick radios, i can use my TXT-2 from my Micro RS4....
Does the boat come with a reciever?
and would the TXT 2 work?

With a boat of that size and price, use a good radio system, no junk.
A 1/4 scale servo is not needed, there are plenty of servos in the standard size that have plenty of torque and are cheaper. The Hi-Tec 645MG is a great servo for this. If you can only put a 1/4 scale servo in it, go to a Hi-Tec 700BB.
Go back and see what I wrote about a hook in the hull. It usually comes from shrinkage in the mold as the resin sets up.
This boat is upgradable so it is a good one to start with. I've seen some that run very well after some minor upgrades.

I think that their Zenoah in that kit is mostly stock so the upgrades would be to install a water-cooled head, a larger carb and a tuned pipe exhaust system.

Take the time to download the player and click on those video's. You'll see how a STOCK boat runs. Nothing fancy but its in your face and lets you see the real speed.
Best $'s I've spent in a long time. Plus after ugrading to a tuned pipe, its even better.

does the Super G's prop come balanced/polished and stuff?

I think Double has like 800 wraped up into his boat. (less props and tuned pipe) I know he likes it quite a bit and even had the unfortunate happening of seeing how tough it was. From what I know he is a happy customer and has nothing but good things to say about Tony at WHH. I can't be of much help as far as who to buy from because I pieced mine together but if I was to but a RTR I would go with WHH. or over at jim's you can usually find a god RTR thats used but usually set up pretty decent. Gas is all that board is about. You may even what to put a posting in the wanted section to see if somebody responds.
Good luck and make sure you post a pic when you get something.

For $800 it comes with everything but the radio.
Prop is balanced and SHARP. They even put tape around the edgs to protect you and it.
Had I rushed assembly, it would've been ready to get wet in maybe 2 1/2 hours OR you can order it RTR.
