Is the wire green or dark colored so cannot tell if we fried the arm or not?! haha :D :p
What can are you supposed to run that in and how do you get around the ROAR rule that states that you can't mix-and-match parts to make a hybrid motor?

roar rules state: "No mixing of parts from different base motors is allowed".
there has been previous dicsussion as to the definition of 'base motor'. one group says base motor is oem manufacturer generic, the other says base motor is oem manufacturer-model specific. going by the first definition, you can mix/match different parts as long as they are from the same oem. if you subscribe to the second definition, the motor would not be legal unless epic produced a full stack 19t motor, and this arm was used in it.
reedy posted a long time back that full stack arms are easier on brushes that split stacks. assuming this is true, this would be the only way to go for a 'spec 19' class. i had a chance to run a pre-production orion element (basically hand wound arcor spec motor), and was impressed by how even the torque curve felt on the track. i'm sure this will be very similar.
Handwound eh..... Performance standpoint; yippie! "Spec Racing" standpoint; Hell No!...
Legalizing stuff like this ruins the point of spec racing! The point of spec(any kind of spec) is for closer racing that is affordable(which is already damn expensive enough)! Thats why the only fair class has been the Spec21 from trinity. It got slow, people want faster; then goes spec19T. You should even be running spec brushes; possibly tires too.
Then what happened; chameleon version 2, Reedy, Orion, and who else?, comes out with their own spec19T motors. Faster motors come out, people are then gonna have to go buy them to keep up, or be inclined to think they need a new motor. But still, at some tracks; C2 ONLY!... Thank god there are people that remember the point of racing spec! Now you want to bust out a Handwound spec armature that is spec legal? Forget it! If manufacturers want to make more money, make a faster better mod motor, get the price cap changed for stock. Don't F*ck up Spec!

with any machine wound motor there are going to be good ones and bad ones. Going with a hand wound arm eliminates buying a dozen machine wound motors to get a good one, sounds like saving money to me

i'm with TEM on this one, the whole point of spec is to show who the BEST driver is, not the richest or the one willing to spend the most...

i think matts point is that you get better consistency with handwounds. more consistency = more equal = better spec.
