what size stuffing tube do i need for a 3/16 cable, and do i have to use a teflon tube or can i just use the brass tube greased up real well, i am setting up my mono by the way if it helps any

1/4" tube. That is if your sturt is 1/4", you will also need to make a bushing useing 7/32" tubing.

Also coat the shaft with a good marine grease, like OMC marine grease, it saves the shaft and stops radio interferance.

I recommend you use the nylon tube along with the shaft..it help reduce friction and wear on the cable..just put a 1 inch piece of fuel tubing on the end of the shaft on the inside and run the cable through that...it seals it up....it basically eliminates any water being pulled up the shaft and into your hull while its running

in my neck of the woods, we don't use the teflon liners. you have to relube the shaft more often without the liner, but in practice, there seems to be less drag in our boats when using only the right sized tube (1/4" for 3/16" flex) with no teflon liner. friction free is the way to be :)

I just run the tubes as well with no liner. Seems to work for me
