I'm looking at getting an E-maxx soon but I'm unsure of a few things...

I'll probably be using 2x Orion 2400mha Nicad stick packs in it, is this going to be plenty of power for it?

Also, i've heard that the stock shock caps tend to pop off on landing ;) Is it worth upgrading the suspension out of the box?

I'm also intrested in sticking a pair of modified motors into it, replacing the two titan motors (probably Reedy Kryptons or something). Is this possible?

I'm planning to mostly race this at a local club, maybe bash a little. Certainly not race competatively (I've got my T3 FT for that :))

Cheers for any help...

For the shocks, you could upgrade to the aluminum shock caps. Make sure to top off the shock fluid before you screw down the shock caps.

As for mod motors, yes and no. 540-sized mod motors, I would not do. That's because the EVX ESC runs on 14.4VDC while your typical 540 mod motor runs on 7.2VDC. You could always run Trinity Monster Maxx motors or the Reedy equivalents (forgot the name) but these tend to burn out pretty fast. These are motors made specifically for the E-Maxx and are 550 sized like the stock motors.

I would say that the only motors to use are either the titans or brushless, as the trinity and reedy motors have a tendency to go bad, so to speak.
the orions should be fine yes. just treat them well and they should be good
The big bores are nice, but not cheap. silky smooth. i wouldn't mind having them on my truck if i had the cash

Thanks for the offer freak, but, for a start, I'm in the UK and shipping would be a nightmare ;) Also, I can't afford to buy for a month or so yet :(

Are the titans easy to clean? I hear they are basically not "rebuildable" though it is possible...

What kind of speed can I be expecting with a stock E-Maxx? (using 2400 Orion rocketpack nicads)...

about 20 -23 mph id say. Titans aren't mrebuildable, but keep em clean with motor spray and compressed air and you should be good. a heatsink is a good thing too, as it will help keep the motors from overheating

I'm thinking of getting a E-Maxx too.

What kind of runtimes should I expect with just 3000mah sport packs? With totally non-aggressive driving.

I would go with 7-cell 3300mah packs. They made my stock Emaxx flat out run. I would also stay with the stock motors, its not worth it to change unless you wear them out or switch to BL.:D
