Lately i have been researching on my Dirt Demon. People have different opinions about the truck. Personally i love it, it handles like a stadium truck and can run over a T Maxx (literally). I had to get a couple of kinks out of the truck:

-aluminum clutch shoes
-Ofna 12t clutch bell
-grease on clutch bell
-loctite all metal to metal surfaces
-use body clips
-water proofing

I have locked a differential before in my project truck (Nitro Rustler) with JB Weld. It worked like a charm. I am thinking about doing the same to my Demon but the demon drivetrain is more complex. It has three diffs and i am afraid if i lock the front and rear diffs, the center diff gear will strip.

What do you guys think i should do?

Thanx in advance. :) :) :) :)

get silicone diff oil #50000 and it will lock the diffs, the diff will be able to unload, but not much!!

Lock the center diff...you won't need it if you go off-roading much...

Could someone please explain to me what "locking the diff"
means and how and why you would do it.

I have heard that term many times and have never thought about what it is until now..so any answers would be great.

:D

A normal diff will give all the power to the wheel with the least traction...(having a 2WD car, holding up the rear and locking one of the drive wheel, all the power goes to the other wheel), locking the diff will get rid of this alltogether (you'll loose handling and turning radius though). A center diff makes it possible of the car to get "stuck with only one wheel in the air (ok, it's abit hard but it is possible) since if the right front wheel looses traction the center diff will send all the power to the front and none to the back (in theory anyway, in the real world it takes a bit to long)...

Also with a center diff, I will be impossible to pop a wheely...as soon as the front wheels are of the ground the rear won't get any power...

Fill up the center diff with general purpose solder (not electrical). If you want to unlock the diff, just tap it with a screwdriver
