Best Paint Competition #8 (tribal themes)

Welcome everyone to the Eighth Best Paint Competition!!

The best paint competition will be open for entrees for two weeks and will close at 12:00 AM September 15 at midnight.
Restrictions: Tribal theme (flames, shapes, trees, tiki gods, whatever tribal is to you.)

In the following two weeks (September 16 to September 30) we will hold the third Street/Race Competition. All entrees in the 8th Street/Race must be street dream cars. Each month we will hold a Best Paint and Street/Race competition. If you can’t get your bodies done this month, don’t worry there will be plenty more to come!!

The winning bodies may appear in Radio Control Car Action or R/C Nitro!!


RULES for Best Paint:

1) Any body may be submitted to the competition (Truck, buggy, touring car, etc).
2) Any body submitted may NOT appear in another competition.
3) Photo editing the pictures (other than cropping and adjusting brightness/contrast) is highly looked down upon and may result in disqualification.
4) Anyone may enter a body (professional painters are welcome!)
5) Please refrain from insulting bodies in anyway.
6) Must fall within this month's restrictions (September restrictions: Tribal themes)
7) Only 2 entrees per person.
8) Bodies should be painted within the last 4 months.

Each submission must include the following:
Body manufacturer and size.
Paint used.
Masks used (hand or precut)
Inspiration (could be another paint job).
And of course, a body.

This month ….. will be judging the Best paint competition. Im going to finish judging the last competition tonight and post who will judge.

Each body will be judged by the following criteria (1-bad, 10-excellent):

Difficulty (score 1-10)
Over all design (score 1-10)
Execution (score 1-10)

The photo and background will not be judged. All that is needed is a clean photo that clearly shows the body.

Each month we will place some restriction on all entrees.

October restrictions:
Best Paint-None any body is eligible.
Street/Race- None, any body is eligible.

man this is making me want to start painting again! I might have to go up the the LHS and get me a body to paint for that nonexistant car I have. haha well I actually think I might have a XXX on the way . . so I might go waste a couple 20's on some paint and a body instead of the stuff I actually need to get back into RC . . hah

Body manufacturer: Pro-Line Crowd Pleazer on a Hot Bodies Lightning Pro.
Paint used: Faskolor and Alclad chrome
Masks used: Custom, created in Xara
Inspiration: Various tatoos I've seen and an AWESOME trans-am someone posted on this board.

The inset images show the detail of the blades. They are all edged in chrome which doesn't show up very well in a pic. My execution was poor on this, but I think the concept is pretty cool.

Ghost.....Wow...nice different looking design although it makes my hands ache just thinking about cutting that one out. Always love that color combination too. I give it 2 snaps in a circle :)

pure tmaxx thanks for the compliments and yes my wrist still aches from all the cutting.what that picture doesn't pick up on is the blue has 7 different pearls in it and in the light it changes from reds to purples to greens and yellows it looked realy wild on the track

Yeah charlie the side graphic counts as tribal and the large "cut outs" also count. If its going to be an official entree i need the necesary info.

Hi all.

This is my entry for this months best paint.
Arguably the best ive ever painted, this is the first ive painted using my new super thin masking (I got a 10m roll :D ).
Using good masking just makes life ten times easier,

This is a protoform stratus rev 2.0
All hand cut masks (cut on the body)
Airbrushed using badger 360.
Paint is Pactra enamel and custom colour canned paint.
Inspirations, Celtic art and all the awesome painters on this forum who are making me paint better than I ever have before.

This is an amazing body. Unbelievable what CB can do with an airbrush. I almost went off the grading chart with this one.

Im going to have to use my god like powers (yeah right :rolleyes: :p ) for a minute to step in and crown Ghost Graffix as the winner because charlie did not officially enter the competition, he posted more as inspiration.

I believe it is done with the skull master stencil. I am still learning how to use it:D
