When was the last time you saw an r/c vehicle go up in flames?
... wait, Roar 1/10 gas nats... Alex Schreven... LOL... never mind me.;)
I mean, if it catches on fire, you can only salvage some screws anyway. What is the difference?

For those interested in this boat, here are some videos of my highly modified Villain.
Current setup (http://movies.theshreves.com/todd/newvillain2.wmv) Windows media, 23 megs
WAY old Villain (http://movies.theshreves.com/todd/villain3.wmv) From 1994!, windows media, 11 megs, no sound :(
As you can see, she got a bit faster over the years :)
This is how fast you can make one of these suckers go (with a crapload of work). I think the EX version should be about as fast as the boat in the second video.
For modification details (not been updated in many years, sadly):

jeep, that boat is wicked fast! WHat kind of run times do you get?
jeepinator

The run times are excellent. At least 8 minutes.
The packs are warm, almost hot and the motors are cool. Brush wear is excellent as well. The big comm Reedy motors are just killer for boats (Sonic series, gone now, I think).
Some of the footage was with 12 cells, some with 14 cells - all in series. The motors are in series as well.

"Spinning it out with ease"?
Umm... that is not exactly something to brag about.
What does co-opt mean?

The boat pond was not very deep. With this boat the pond developed waves quickly and would allow this boat to spin out with the speed it carried.

I think Traxxas should be pay jeepinator royalties for "using" all of the mods he's done to his Villain over the years on there newer Villain models.

It doesn't look like they implemented my physical steering restrain system (PSRS) :D
Simple, easy, and effective. No more broken universals. I don't care how hard you crash or how much powah you have.
I sent them an email twice with my website URL. Looking for feedback and suggesting change. Their response? Nothing via email, but they did copy the crap out of my stuff :D
Well, I dunno if they copied ME, but they did implement most of the stuff I did like 10 years ago.
They are a bit slow, but they eventually figure crap out.

Gas boats or atleast traxxas anyways are equipped with a dc motor which kicks in when u pull all the way back on the throttle control on the remote. They use up batteries kind of fast but they always get the boat back to shore or ur canoe:D

Or you could get a big 4wd fourwheeler and float it out to get the boat. I did it with my old 2x4 honda, But I wasnt trying to get a boat I was just seeing if it would float, then I got it back on shore and there was some water in the airbox.
