well do you want on or offroad? That will make a difference! I would say that if you can find an abandoned parking lot for on road that may work.

I would start by talking to the owner of your LHS and see what you can get together. ARE you COMITTED to doing this, are you ready to to wake up every Saturday or Sunday to set-up a track. Fair warning if you are in it for the money give up now because the work that you will put into it will not be the same that you will get in $$$ if you get any, you and your sponsering LHS will get the $$$ from this but remember your LHS will need to recover cost for the events before any body walks away with a fist full of cash, a good transponder system cost about $2000.00
......somebody needs to buy it.......... and brush up on your spelling too....It will help when you make your fliers.

Hey, again

Well I am trying to make a Summer thing for on-roaders nitro and electric. My LHS is really for the car and plane R/C and they will probably buy the transponder system.

I am having a low in my custom body biz and are basicly trying to fix my nitro off-road and keeping my TC3 dream insight for Feb. and so far my friend is getting a TC3 also so I think that ppl will come and there is alot of space around the LHS because there is an old mall.

I think that there is alot more Nitro on-road but I think that I can find some electric ppl!!

Thanx, alot!!

I think he is way too young and lack of racing experience to start a track............just enjoy racing and forget about hosting a race track, it will only make you HATE RC more.

Trust me...........come back when you are 18.

First of all, please accept my appology about my statment above, it is totalling unnecessary and I will take it back.

Second, I am trying to help............again, you cannot run a organized race or track if you are not IN the organized race.......when was the last time you raced a 4-5 qualifiers (5-10 minutes each) and a 30 minutes main race? The track itself is easy......$5000 should be able to cover all the PVC or board.

Transponder system, easy....another $2-3000 (don't forget you need to buy a lot of those HAND OUT once for ppl to use and BREAK).

Get a parking lot of space to race....EASY, just go around and ASK ppl to let you use a minimum 150 by 250 lot.

Oh, insurance.........all race track required one, or the parking lot WILL required you to have one so just incase if one of those 2.5 hp 1/8th scale SERPENT 950 ran out of control and hit a Mercedes S55 parking next to the track...........someone will have that $120,000 car covered.

Not to mention, if one of those 2 years kid sitting at the track, and one of those $2000 2HP Monster truck like T-Maxx ran him over and hurt him.......so that kids parent can SUE YOU AND THE PARKING LOT for multiple million $$$ and make sure you and the lot owner will be in jail (if there are no insurnace covered for the LOT that is used for RC racing...)

Oh, I haven't go thru the track layout, the ppl that doesn't like the layout, or the ppl doesn't want to pay $10 to cover all your expenses, or the ppl doesn't want to marshell......

Or the ppl that STEAL at the track, or the ppl that just RUN their car, turn on their radio ANYTIME they want and give you and other ppl ALL KIND OF trouble.

Do you really want me to go on............?

Kid, there are too many things involve in a real track, and for a 13 years old, really, ENJOY it, don't ruin it..........thats why I was trying to say is...........go enjoy REAL racing for good 8-10 years (thru your college year too) and when you are independent (have MUST have a full time GOOD PAID job).........then think about having a track with someone (your die hard RC buddy) to organize a race track.

But you think you can handle all those things and you are ready now...........you are very GOOD, and seriously, I think I would like to HIRE you to help ME personally to start a track, or at least, there are 2 tracks here would like to HIRE you to solve all their problems, that still, we cannot figured out.

Again, enjoy the show, don't rush and try to RUN the show.......this RC track thing is way more ugly then you think, and for me, unless I have a lot of money and retired before 35, I would never want to run a track, you won't make any money (really, you can only lose more money if things are not going right) and you would HATE RC for good.

Dude, he was just trying to help. But think man, you're thirteen, a little young. I agree with Rookie Solara, wait awhile and see how things are run. Also, try to make friends with the local hobby shop owners and big racers in your area, they can help you get started later on. But seriousley, what you said about Rookie Solara, that made you look like a stupid idiot. There was no need in that. Think before you type.

Whoa Little Grasshopper(Evil Racer). is this how your going to treat your customers by calling them names and throwing a temper tantrum? Slow down and listen to these guys, they are trying to help you out. You have to think of people at your track as customers and you can't go calling them names and getting mad at people for their ideas and suggestions. If you do, they won't be around very long. If i might be so bold as to suggest something, i would go to the nearest hobby shop or track and ask the owner if you can help him run things. Watch him and learn all you can from him. Watch how he treats people, because people are your business. Some racers at your track have good ideas and some not so good. But don't tell them it's a bad idea, just say thanks for the suggestion and move on. I hope i did'nt offend you in anyway by my comments and I wish you the best of luck in your dream.

No better words could be spoken for a 13 year old young man. You'll have alot to look forward to then R/C in life. That's not to say give up your dreams of R/c but maybe sit back and enjoy bashing, racing and the fun that goes with it. And most important, listen and learn from it all and THEN partner up with some close R/C friends and you'll have better luck in the long run.

I've been into r/c for 9 years, I'm 40 years old, not a young man. I've learned a great deal in those 9 years. I've helped out locally (150 mile radius) running races, building tracks, maintaining track, teching at national events as well as racing. I've had alot of great ideas and a Hobbytown USA is getting ready to expand to a large 20,000sqft building and they intend on having a indoor onroad or offroad track, maybe both. :)

I'm hoping I can be a part of it in every way as a employee were my ideas and help will make the shop grow and be successful.

I'd suggest taking tarheel's advice and hang out at the shop and willingly help out the owner and listen and learn. Please don't forget to have fun, that's what brought me into it and that's what keeps me in it. ;)

Evil,

Everybody is right, just chill out and help your local track and race. Trust me ask anybody that runs a track. sometime these guys don't even get to race, because they are so busy taking care of computer glitches, track problems, tranponder problems etc. Or even if you get the chance to race you break a part in a heat, at the same time there is a computer glitch guess what you cannot work on your car you need to fix the computer glitch. Like I said if you in it for the money forget it. If you expect to race every heat on every race day forget it. Example Walt that runs the Tinley Park Track (www.chicagolandrc.com) He is at the lot at 6:00 AM every sunday preping the lot and begin laying out the track. Are you ready for that commitment. My suggestion let the LHS do most of the work, and you just hang out and help. Enjoy the ride.....Attend a few REAL races and watch and see what is going on. Alot more than you think.

Evil,

Re: Rookies's comment

Don't take what he said personally, He was just saying the truth, not trying to bash you, I'm 37 yo, and my son is 13 yo Rookie is a good racer and really a nice guy, he is always giving my son (and ME) pointers on how to race well.....so don't take it hard. He has been to many races and knows alot. Actaully most of us at the track when we are doubt of somthing, "let ask Rookie"......Hey don't dwell on the skating thing either......If you enjoy it who care what other people think. I still get digs on the fact that I still play with toys (r/c cars).
