I myself have not been there in quite a while, so I have not a definite answer for you. My guess though would be it is not yet permanent. Where do you live? I live in Phoenix so the track is not too far from me.
Man, it seems a while ago we had a great chat topic with all the Arizona racers but now its like..gone.
Hopefully this topic will spark up something.:)

Yeah, I was just there last week. Finally a decent track that you can run on anytime you want. I don't like the setup the have on the dirt track right now. Way too technical for my skill level and no good AIR. There's no running room to hit any of the jumps and get big air. Does anyone know how often they change it? The best track they had was the one with that climbed the wall. And it had that jump that would launch you at least 6-8 feet in the air. SUH-WEET!!!!!

They change it 4 times a year. It is not at 4 equal intervals because who wants to work on a track in the summer :o

Yeah, I actually never have raced at SRS but I visit occasionally and am always there at the Cactus Classic. I plan on racing someday but really have my T3 set up for bashing and not racing. Someday. Glade to here the on-road track is permanent.

Hey ARIZONA_DRIVER, RC Sports mania has a website. http://rcsportsmania.com I have not been to any of the races but i have seen the tracks. They have pics on the website too. They have dirt off-road and dirt oval and paved oval. The place is kinda in a scary part of town (35th and Thomas) I'm not big on bein around there after dark. I was at SRS on Sunady. That new track is pretty sweet. The only problem with RC sport mania is that the tracks are gated and can only be used on race days.

Hey thanks for the web link! Yeah, I see what your saying about the location. Stinks that they gate the tracks! Oh well, I guess you kind of need to in that neck of the woods.
Speaking of SRS, I havent seen the paved track in person but they updated the website and posted a pic on there. Wow! It's nice looking alright! Too bad I only have a T3, just that track would make me want to get an on-road. X-mas is coming around though, so maybe I will mention it to my parents.:D

Yeah, I remember about a year ago, I called RC Sports Mania to kindly ask if they had some parts that I needed and the man was'nt the nicest guy on the phone! Oh well, thank god for SRS. Judging by both of you guys' posts, I am guessing you both race on-road? You guys race offroad too?

im back hehe
i havnt posted on this forum for a while for alot of reasons :(
sold my rc10b4 lol sold my nitro 4-tec lol sold radio, all my electronics, my brushless :( its sad i know :(
but i got a great new hobby lol
PAINTBALL!!!!! LOL
i needed the money to fund alot of things at the time.
anyways ahh i agree i dont like rc sports mania that much grr they never have any parts that i needed back in the day.... so i always ordered online or at srs the few times i was there. and i thought their onroad track just wasnt all that great ... it stunk its just an oval...boring lol
and another reason i dont like sportsmania lol is because of that nasty canal that was next to it. when i raced over there a few times it got my electonics all full of water / condensation!!!!
-not cool
another reason i dropped outa r/c and racing is because i have no wheels to go that far!!!
i live all the way in avondale!!!!!! thats the other side of town!!!!!! :(
closest one is rcsportsmania but i dont like that one as much as srs.
bashing is cool but it gets boring when u cant race.
they have all of these new developments going up over here they have that new gateway pavilions and a new harkins theatre out here and they are building a business complex!!!!! HINT* HINT* hobbyshop owners HINT HINT** i think the sign said 60 percent full last time i looked. so hobby shop and r/c car track makers now is your opertunity to put a hobby shop and track on MY SIDE OF TOWN!!! lol jeez if they did 0_0 i would spend every cent i get on r/c lol.
oh btw im getting a new r/c for x-mas i dont know which one i want. im thinking about a 1/8th scale buggy or tmaxx dont know. :|

That stinks that you dropped the hobby because lack of support around your area.:( I live in Phoenix and SRS is about a 20 minute drive from my house. Maybe quicker, im not sure. I wish I was able to race on-road as well. Since the scheduale is friday on-road racing only, it's impossible to get me out there. lol. My parents are my supply of transportation, and last thing they want to do on friday afternoon is drive me. oh well.
I might make it out there Saturday of next week though, so that should be fun.;)
BTW: I think you should get a 1/8 buggy. Those things rock. If I had unlimited funds, I would get one.

Anybody race off-road? I race gas truck and sometimes T-Maxx out there. I'm usually out there every other saturday. I like the track alot. I'm not a big fan of small jumps but it is still a pretty fun track. I like it alot more than the last one.

I have a T3, but I only use it for bashing. Its simply a bone stock RTR so its perfect for what I do. I am going to start racing though as soon as I decide what I want to do! Only problem with RC is there is too much darn selection! Sheesh, one week I want a B4, next week I want a NTC3. Its crazy. Oh well, I have around 500 dollars saved (because since I could never make up my mind, I just decided to start saving) and X-Mas is coming around so this should be a fun holiday.

I didnt even know this forum existed, let alone the thread on SRS. Been there once just to practice and mess around. It was a fun track (offroad one) but those little triangle shaped things are soo frigin hard to see. They blend in prefectly and look flat! Id be driving then all the sudden my gt would jump up in the air. I want to practice some more...ok a lot more then go and maybe race in the novice/beginner offroad nitro class. Hopefully Ill get a Nitro TC3 w/a 2-speed and do some onroading to. Good to see other AZ racers but for now Im just a basher :)

Hmm, I dont really go any place special to bash; just my backyard and the nearby desert area. It's really a lot of fun. :) But bashing is starting to get old. I want to move up to racing. Too bad I need some stuff for that, maybe i'll ask it for Christmas.

NitroBoy24- Hey nice to see you. Have you been since SRS rebuilt the track? SRS stopped having a novice nitro class a long time ago. I don't know why but they only have a nitro truck class now. So usually there is an A, B, and sometimes a C main.
ARIZONA_DRIVER- Do you have any pics of your truck? So if I see you out there I might recognize you?
Wounder how many peps from the track know bout this site? Be vary careful. Racing is very addictive. Doctors should rite out presrcriptions for it. Could be hazardest to your piggy bank. Oh well I still love it. I used to bash in the desert till I found SRS by accident. I met Got Speed there. He's a good driver! alot of knowledge too. We should all hook up there some day. I try to go there every Saturday night for the off road racing. I got a Losi Drake edition. Its flouresnt orange flames in front on a candy blue body. It stands out pretty good. I'm not the best driver but I race mostly for fun not glory. I been to the on road races and I like them. I dont know If I'm getting an 8th scale off roader or an electric xxxt for the Cactus Classic.
Ive been to the other track and didnt like the fact that they only take cash for parts. They are accually a whole lot more organized in the way they allow drivers to practice. I wish SRS would do something simalar like during practice every one on the same channels get together and set up a practice schedule depending on how many peps are on that channel. Divide time equally between them. How about a Frequency board like they have at the State and Cactus. That would be awesome too. heh GS.
Any how good see other zonies here

Got Speed-Heh, mines not too hard to miss, its just the plain T3 with the cruddy RTR paintjob on it. (kinda like Billy Eastons ride, only with orange zig zags). I never bothered to upgrade anything on it because it was working fine for me. I am though gonna do a major overhaul with new motor, esc, batts, etc.
I think I will bash up until Christmas, get loads of cool R/C stuff from my parents, then head on down to SRS sometime after that. Good thing my dad thinks R/C is cool..he's my only means of transportation!

cave- They really should. They have that freq. board they use for the state and cactus. They also have that freq. board right inside the hall. They really need to use it. I don't know why they don't. Your looking at getting an 1/8 scale? To bash or to race over at that other track? I'd love to have one to race or bash if they weren't so expensive(espcially for racing). That would be cool if you got one though. Do you know if you are going to go to the Nitro Challenge?

My mom has our car though so we wont be racing it (well not really racing, just a big group that goes out, not much passing, no one wants to wreck), just spectating. Id like to go to SRS but its just so dang far away :(.
I noticed that most of the off-roaders there were electric. Thanks, but Ill pass on 10 minute runtimes and rebuilding a motor every week if I were to get a low turn one. NitroBoy24- SRS has more on-road racing than any of the other local tracks but I wouldn't say it is a big thing.
For off-road did you go on a thursday or tuesday night? Saturday there are lots of nitro racers. There are usually about 30 gas trucks and 10-15 T-Maxxs out there. There are lots of nitro off-road guys out there. Most of the guys out there are pretty cool. I'm only 16 myself.

Sorry I always forget to check this thread.
I was talkin to this one guy with two B4's and he was cool. Ya im 14 myself (going on 15 late january) so its always good to know theyre arent di*ks to the younger kids. I cant remember when I went to SRS...Think a wednesday a longgg time ago. It was at ariund 2pm or so because we had no school that day and my dad teaches in the district so we went to test out his FT GT. I love it :D. I had front ribs with well no ribs from driving in the street and Id jump the table top then double the last to (didnt no course well enough to try and triple, prob. different now tho) and Id land of the double turn the wheels and my gt would just slide into the mini brick wall since it had no front wheel grip. Lucily my dad let me drive his truck so it wasnt a waste of time driving there. Hopefully some time when my friends get there r/c's fixed we can meet you out there since were all near your age and would be stuck with a bunch of "old timers"...Lol no offense to the guys who are no longer "young" that post in these forums.

Hehehe
OLD TIMER cave, that shall be your new name :p. Jeez I need to get that friggin screw tapped on my gt so my dad and I can go out bashing!! I wonder how many people will have mini-ts at SRS? Hehe, wait you need a steering servo worth a crap before you can race, so that might lower the number. As long as Losi fixes this by Christmas Ill be happy. Im not buying a mini-t and spending $150 more because if you swap out steering servos for say a Hitec, you have to use all Hitec electronics so itll work. Comon Team Losi RTR means ready-to-run not ready-to-replace.
I heard that little saying at a mini-t based forum and Ive now adopted it as my favorite rc quote at the moment :D
NitroBoy24 I saw two minis out at srs on friday and they seamed pretty awesome on Friday. Staurday night at SRS there was only one running in the stock class. There will be a class for them after Xmass. This is sure as to how many peps were impressed with the tini mini xxxt. For a truck that size its fast. It seamed pretty durable out there with the big boys. It even finish the race without breaking and those guys were rough with it. The guy racing it is a local and he didnt finsh last either. Losi seams to put out just the bare RTR and leaves the upgrades to you. This keeps it afordable to those who may not race. If latter you need to upgrade you can. As the popularity of this truck grows there will be tons of new parts and aftermrket parts. Its an awsome addition to Losi's line up. Come on Losi come up with an 8th scale for me.:D

NitroBoy24- Almost everyone out there is pretty nice and there are a good number of "young timers" that race out there. It's a lot of fun though. It can be costly to race but too fun not to. hehe
Hitec, Futaba, Airtronics, JR, and most of the other all share common plugs. You don't need to buy all the other electronics for it. Is that what you were talking about?
cave- Thanks. Who said they would be making a mini-T class after Christmas? Scott? That would be really cool if they had one. I might have to give up the micro rs4 to get one :p .
BTW: LOL I can't get over how I was trying to put my Losi body on my T-Maxx last week.  :D :p :o I probably would have found a way if you wouldn't have stopped me. The losi reciever slash esc has a 4-plug hole thing for their servo to plug into, and all the other brands use a three plug design. Sooo people will be SOL if they dont buy a whole new radio system until losi fixes the problem. I am really itching to get a mini-t and drop a BL in it when mamba comes out w/a micro rc compatible esc that is for a bl...Wonder if Id be allowed to race with the other minis lol. With a "conservative" gear setup this one guy hit 35mph in his BL mini-t (he jerry rigged a BL setup) and then with higher gearing he said he probablly hit 50mph!! Thats awesome. Maybe I could race in the 1/10 scale electric st class :D.
Well race on to the lucky a-holes that live near SRS, unlike me...But once I get a mini-t Ill probablly have to go and race every once in a while.

Oh so they are doing something like Kyosho's mini z. :( Why would they do that?! Too bad they didn't do like HPI and make it with a standard ESC, Reciever, and servo. I bet you could get the thing to hit 50 with a good brushless. The HPI Micro has hit 60 with a brushless. Or so it is said at least. With a car that size though it isn't unbelievable. It is about time somebody comes out with a brushless ESC that is less like an on/off switch.

Bah! I spoke too soon about me gettin a mini-t. After "consulting" with my best friend (rc and non rc) and my dad Ive decided that $150 a truck that small is too much $$ when I could get a rtr for a tad more. Well a duratrax evader to be exact. Im probablly gonna get a T4 rtr for my late jan. birthday, and especially if my friend gets a B4 rtr this christmas (which I think he will). And if all goes as planned I might pop a Novak SS bl setup in it :D. Wonder if I could race in the "modified" class lol. Its just as fast as I think a reedy 10t as tested in RCCA so it should be allowed to compete in whatever class a low turn would be in...Id just set it on ultimate rpms and brake only (no reverse) and if I cant race it oh well Ill bash it and race my GT. Well off to post somewhere else.

Ok,
My friend is telling me that at Scottsdale RC they have certain days where only electrics can do the practice session. Not racing or qualifying, just when you go there to practice driving on the track. Is this true? I highly doubt it is because telling people they cant practice because they have a nitro would be extremely stupid...

Also,
Whens the Cactus Classic going to be at SRS?? And is there a place for spectators to watch? I really want to go this year, thatd be fun to have a chance to meet with some of the pros. Thatd be cool to have a shirt or something r/c related signed by all the pros.

The track is awesome. It might take my new favorite that SRS has made. There are 2 tripples. A 30ft.(about) long 6 jump(what would you call that, a quint? lol). An off-camber turn, a step up/tabletop with the down step going into a tight S turn. A sweeper. And a few sections that have little humps in them to discourage taking a certain line. I'm going to go there for a little bit tommorow and try it out. The cactus is usually in the end of march if I remember right. It is an elec. only race. They don't mind people watching but they don't have bleachers or anything like that.

I just went there yesterday to try it out. It is awesome. It is my favorite track that SRS has built yet. We have moguls on the straightaway. LOL When they were building the track they noticed that the straightaway dipped down in the middle so they took some dirt and put it on the straight to try and level it out. They didn't quite have the dirt leveled out when they rolled it though so there were a bunch of bumps in middle of the straight. They fixed it alot better than it was but there are definatly little rollers down the middle. hehe When I was there the other day there were trucks that didn't hit the gas untill they go to that part and would wheelie over or go cartwheeling.

I was sliding around like the track was frozen. I was just wondering if anyone had a good setup for tires for that track? Does anyone go out there on Monday mornings/early afternoon? That is when I am out there.

I am going toworrow to try out my new RC10GT. Maybe I'll see someone out there. Also does SRS have any rules about cutting out windows. Looking to start racing soon.

Whoa,
Once again I havent checked this thread in a while! Fireman, Im not sure about SRS having rules about cutting windows during a race, but I do know they could car less what you do in practice :D Track sounds sweet, cant wait to try it out.
Most of us who race there do care what you do there at practice. remember to watch out for other cars on the track. Dont stand on the track when your driving unless your being helpful and marshaling. Speaking for myself, I have tons of bux in my Drake and really get teed when someone drives backwards on the track and smacks into me buy cutting the course. Just be safe. These arent toys and there is alot of money in our Losi's. If your new to SRS just ask some one who is there whats the ground rules. yell out your frequency before you run you rc and again as you approach the drivers stand. Most people are concentrating on driving and cant always hear you from the pit area. I yelled my freq. and had some one get pissed at me because they crash. KNOW your channel. this will keep everyone happy. Most of us our awesome people and would welcome you out. Now Go race!!!!! its Great fun ,Great people and nice folks in the store. There is 1 grumpy gy in there but once you get to know him he's accually a cool guy.
fireman there are ROAR rules and you may want to check into them before you go crazy and cut them. I have a square hole in front but I race NITRO:D

Ahh, my computer hasn't let me on the internet for a week.
fireman- For just normal racing they don't care how you cut out your windows. ROAR rules only apply during the state championship or the Cactus classic.
NitroBoy24- Yeah, they do care. They don't care a whole lot what you run during practice but like cave said make sure you yell out your frequency at least twice by the stand. Don't run backwards unless your the only one out there.
cave- Have you raced recently or on the new track at all. I raced last saturday. I love this new track. It's my favorite track that SRS has made. I'm not going to be there on the 31st. I'll be at the Nitro Challenge. hehe

Yeah, you can just drive on it on non-race days. You can drive on race days too before the races. You just have to be careful about freq. confilcts and everything else too.

I was saying I dont they care how many windows you cut on a non-raceday if your there practicing. I know you still ask for frequencies and all but its not like theyre gonna kick you off on a wednesday or whatever afternoon because youve got too many windows cut out :D
Guess what...
IM GOING TO SRS TODAY!!!! WOOT!! I cant wait to drive on the new offroad track and take my NTC3 on the onroad track. Today is going to be a good day!!

Overall, SRS is a great facility and their customer service couldn't be any better. FYI, they've got just about the best prices I've seen anywhere.
One problem I've had though - This has already been mentioned on this forum, but I think it needs to be emphasized again. The track BADLY needs a frequency board when the shop is open. I realize they can't leave it out when the shop is closed, but during open hours they should keep it just outside the shop entrance. I was practicing on the road course recently while there was a large group of people practicing on the off road course. Several times I had people turn on their transmitters while I was practicing, which sent my touring car into the boards. Fortunately, I didn't break anything, but it's frustrating to have something like that happen when there's such a simple solution to the problem. Maybe I didn't hear them call out their frequency because I was on the road course driver's stand and they were over by the off road stand, but regardless a frequency board would easily (and cheaply) fix this dilemma.

They have a freq. board right inside the hall to the restrooms. They only use it for the state champs and cactus!? I don't know why that's just how they do it. I think many people have talked to scott about having it out during open hours but nothing has been done about it. Even if the people yell out there numbers they should turn their car on first so that they can tell if anyone else is that didn't hear them. It could save their car and someones elses.
