What is the best IOM boat in your opinion?
Also, does anyone know of any other model yacht forums, this one seems to be dormant.

the best iom to get is the one that is most popular at your local club. you can spend from $200 on a mistral to 4 digits on a venom. the us one meter is the favorite and many have iom rigs and keels just for iom events.
then there's the sweet sails, deck fittings and radio items that help with the whole experience.
visit your local model yacht club and start sailing today. they may offer you a yacht to sail for the day. politely accept.

Currently, the three "hot" boata are the Disco, Cockatoo and TS2. I would guess that Cockatoo and Disco are about evenly matched,, and TS2 is a heavier weather boat. You can not interchange sails and keels on a Venom as Skipper has stated earlier. If you are truly interested in IOM, then I would suggest you register to the US IOM webpage at: http://onemetre.sbmyc.com/forums/. The 2006 IOM Nationals will be hosted by the Detroit Model yacht Club in early May. Come on by...... you can contact me at fvracerone1 AT aol.com
