Ok that other thread I made about the funny link didn't go down so well so here's my story:
I was in the parking lot at the park and there was just dirt instead of a curb separating the parking spaces on the other side and I was jumping me N rustler over it. The problem was I had yet to master that gyro stuff with the braking and throttle to balance it in mid-air. So the 2nd shot I took at the jump, it flipped and landed on it's lid without a body.... Ouch. The only think that happened to it was the heat sink got some prety deep scratches in it. Let's here your stories.

ok last night was pretty bad though i think it was 10pm and i was going up and down the neighbourhood btw i live at a corner so i came into the corner too fast and it just recently rained i think i was doing 40mph i slammed on the brakes as it was drifting trying to gain traction so i tried to accelerate to gain some traction but no it slid right into the street curb i bent the left rear wheel and cracked my rim... but best thing of all was i didn't break anything else on the buggy :)

in may of 2002 i had just completed every upgrade i wanted for my emaxx.it had harcore racings gold rims and chassis i had put on 2 weeks before.running in front of my house there is a blind turn.our speed limit was 15 but the car that came whipping around the corner was at least going 40.it happend to be a At&t van.the driver got out and offered 50 buck and i laughed in his face.upset as i was i said i should report him to his suporvisor for going 40 in a 15.(cousing was clocking my emaxx with my quicksilver rader, clocked him instead)the driver(we will call him FOOL)offered full payment due to not wanting to loose his job(ex convict)

so i whipped out the old tower, stormer, and harcre racing reciepts and was paid within a month period all $600 i spent.i was packing 2 super roosters, badmaxx motors.this van struck it so dead center that the entire chassis was under it.

That was very lucky for you because in actuality, you were the one who was legally liable - streets are for cars, not RC's, this has come up many times. Never run your RC's in the street! :D

Here's a great thread of worst wrecks with pics and all.

There was a better one but I can't find it. :D

After looking at those pics SEVERAL times i still have no freakin clue how he could do that even stuffing it into a jump upside down or whatever. I figured it might bend but not snap. Thats just nuts :D

The casing is cast aluminum, what do you expect? It's known to be very brittle, not to mention the added heat from the engine changes the temper of the alloy. If I were to approach an R/C engine, I would machine one from a block of solid billet aluminum.

That's a great idea AudiTT... never thought of that... wonder if there are any drawbacks apart from cost and time...

I don't see any disadvantage other than the slight increase in weight.

The billet casing would dissipate heat much better than the cast aluminum allowing you to run hotter and etc...

The casing would be MUCH stronger than the cast aluminum.

The only downside, like you said, are machining time and cost. Since machining time adds to the cost, it'll be VERY expensive. To get a better estimate, I'll come up with a CAD in the next week or so and send it down to my buddy Chuck at ROE Machine for a quote, but I doubt there will be enough interest in the idea primarily because of the cost.

Just another project I had lying around...

not to mention no way for mass prodution. If you can drive you won't need a solid aluminum block.

I agree, VERY valid point. From the machining time and the sophisticated CNC that's needed, there is no way to mass produce these. I estimate 3-4 hours to machine one complete engine assembly plus inspection and etc...

You'd think the finest racing engines would use aluminum, or some sort of machined alloy block. I'd imagine a machined aluminum block would distort significantly less under heat, run much more reliable, etc.

Aw well, I'll just stick with brushless. :)

Heres a shot of my B4 after I launched it off a jump....over a 15 foot drop (actually this finally happend the 4th time I did it, yes I am stupid).

Don't worry though, the CVD bone was fairly easy to bend into useable shap, all I needed was a new a arm and rear brace. :)

I think the one with the motor broken in half is by far the worst. :D

i bet he could get $30 on ebay for that broken engine.

i remember when i had just gotten my 98 rc 10 gt. i was running it in a albertsons and target parking lot on x-mas day..... i was so inexperienced that i wedge it under a cart return and destroyed the schocks and engine head, not to mention my body was mangled. Dude, was i upset. i was so upset that i took a shopping cart and threw it into the cart return. now my car (thanks to the incedent and another wich resulted in me cutting the sleve on my car) is doing 50

One time at band camp I was ramping my T-Maxx off of the orchastra risers and it landed upside down and the engine broke and then some X-con in a van drove by at like 50 mph in a 5 mph zone and ran it over, it sprang off the front wheel down a 15 foot drop and the rear cvds bent and the A arm snaped then it exploded in a huge poof of smoke.

Most of you guys have had way more should I say, bad crashes then me. All I know is my draggster is hard to control because the motor I have is way too powerful, and being a draggster it goes really fast and that is not a good combo. I'm probably going to crash it sometime.

I was driving my xxx4 at the local track (w/ 11x3) and was doing some good laps. After a few laps when I was heading down the straight away, a rustler came off a HUGE tabletop running parallel to the straight away. He hit it crooked and came down and hit my car which was flying down the straight away. It did some damage. I broke my chassis, shock shafts, battery bar, front and rear main blocks, 3 turnbuckles, 1 suspension arm, both shock towers and all 4 diff outdrives!!! He broke a suspension arm.

Bracer30- Chill out brother

Don't you see, I've never had a bad wreck, all my wrecks pale in comparison to the ones mentioned here, I was feeling a little jealous so I thought I would combind all of these wrecks into one Giant MEGAWRECK story.

What happened to worst crashes?

rcfreak2003

I was running my E-Maxx the other day and I missed judged the curb. I hit the curb to the opening of the drive way. The truck flipped over. I ripped the whole front end off the truck. I ripped the bulkheads and skid plate right off the chassis. The sad thing is when you have two cars, both are broke at the same time.

My skids are all messed up because of all the curbs. It's cool because it makes sparks :D :D :D
