As a warning to other pilots! A business was set up in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire with the name JP’s Model Heli Flying School, advertised to teach model helicopter flying, and operated by an American/Singaporese guy going by the name of Johnson Plant (he's also understood to be known in the Rugby area). Having signed up for 10 hours of training, at an up-front cost of Ł120, and having handed over my Concept 32VR to be set up (together with all the parts necessary), I found the business closed down and Johnson Plant moved from his rented!! accommodation- taking all my equipment with him. He's made no attempt to contact me and left no forwarding address, although I believe him to still be in the Huddersfield area (he told me his girlfriend goes to Hudds. Uni.). If you come across this guy, just remember my story and don't get conned!
If any of you guys do know of his whereabouts, I would obviously be very interested and can be contacted on mobile: 07720 348840 or e-mail: john@fw-uk.com

Thanks!
John Bodman (Huddersfield)

The police have been informed, but are not really interested.
I've found about 15 other people all over the country who've had similar experiences with this guy.

Sorry for digging up this piece of history.

Just wanted you guys to know this fellow (at least someone of the same name) may have surfaced in Singapore.

Actually since he is such an international scam artist, could Interpol be alerted? Would appreciate more details of what you guys have been scammed

At this juncture, this Plant is still on the loose - and I have a bad feeling that by the time the police gather the necessary evidence to nail him, he has already fled for greener pastures in another country to repeat this unholy episode. This is because he has already been alerted to the police reports many days ago

BTW these are the pics of this scammer. [Johnson Henry Plant] Can you confirm these are the pics of the conman?

Update:

Johnson Plant has been arrested in Singapore.

Reportedly, potential charges against him include overstaying, which explains why he did not skip town.

Singapore canes overstayers. God bless his rear end.

$10k Net scams: British man held

THE police have arrested a British national who they say is a suspect in a series of Internet scams that cheated members of an online forum of more than $10,000.
The 36-year-old was picked up on Wednesday evening for overstaying, the police said in a statement yesterday.

Officers said they received reports that a man was offering computer hard disks at an electronics website, www.vr-zone.com. But after the victims forked out money, the disks never arrived.

Administrator of the online forum Evan Yeat said dozens of members placed orders for the hard disks, which were advertised for about $250, $100 less than the regular price.

The suspect is believed to have been staying with his girlfriend, a Singaporean, at her flat in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 2.

Police asked anyone who has placed orders for hard disks via the forum and did not receive them to make a police report immediately.

Yep, thats him.

So sorry to bring this thread out so late in the year but my friend has just informed me of his whereabouts. Last year he borrowed my laptop on the promise that he will return it with a new fully updated software. Since my friend was the best friend of his girlfriend (confusing) I thought it would be alright. I was naive though.

It was a Compaq Presario, nothing fancy but a laptop nonetheless. In exchange he gave me a Portege, an old one and from there he never showed up. I left for Australia a few months after that and I never saw my laptop again. Now I hear he is in prison for fraud and I will probably go visit him when I get back to kick his ass.

Just saying this so he will not be able to scam anyone again since I hear he may be kicked out of the country so he may just move. Please if you see someone who looks or has the same nickname as him do NOT get scammed. Trust me he looks and sounds very reliable and can sweet talk his way out of anything. Well except Singapore authorities.
