Here are some pics of my project Clod. I picked up the Clod in August and made a chassis for it. thanks to RC Jack and rx78gp02 for a great deal of inspiration in this project.

The truck is almost ready to go, I just need to pick up a speed controller (Super Rooster) and it will be set.

Big thanks to my friend Rick at work who laid down the paint. He does awesome work and the prices are right. :D

Truck stats: 14.5" wide, 13.5" tall, 5.75" of center ground clearance, 9" of articulation, and 9 pounds with everything except speed controller.

Enjoy!

Hey John, you got that together pretty quick! Thought you were going to take your time? I know, I know....you lied!:D

Man, that's gorgeous.....even if it is electric.;) That paintjob is outstanding and of course, it had to be a DODGE!!!

Nice work!

Thanks!

For electronics I'm just running a Futaba 2 channel radio, with MRC Hi-Torque servos. The steering servos are run off a "Y" harness, and eventuallly it will be equipped with a Novak Super Rooster. The motors are Trinity Matched Madness.

Sorry, no CAD files. I basically drew out the chassis on a piece of paper, made it, and used trial and error from there. Some of the lightening holes actually started life out as mounting holes for the electronics tray or for cross members I thought I was going to need. :D

Now that I made one I want to make another one. It's like anything, once you do something once and screw up a few times, you learn a ton and can apply that to the next one.

Once it started going together and I started seeing results, that is all I wanted to work on! The more it came together the more I wanted to get done and see it finished. It reminded me of those nights when I was 12 sitting in my room building a kit car, being so tired I could hardly stay awake but too excited to actually go to sleep.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it coming from the creator of the Pie Wagon.

I named the truck Overtime because it's going to be a project that will continue "over time". I have a little wish list going on right now, Big Joes, heavy duty steering rods and black rod ends, eventually a 3 channel radio with independent steering, and I also have a chassis design in my head that will incorporate Savage shocks, but all that is down the road. I just want to get my speed controller and see how it performs. I just hope actually driving it is 1/2 as fun as building it was.

Oh, it definitely had to be a Dodge! Is there any other brand? :D

Rick does a great job with the paint. He's painted some bodies in the past that would knock your socks off. One that comes to mind is an American Flag scheme he did on his TerraCrusher. It looked like someone draped a flag over the body, with the stars on the front right side fender and also on the hood, and the rest of the flag spread out from there. It was awesome. He's talking right now that his next body is going to be a "Red Bull" body, painted up in the same scheme of a can of Red Bull. After seeing his work over the years, I have no doubt it's going to be awesome.

Yes, I wanted to do a Clod for a while, and once I saw yours on this board that pushed me over the edge! :D

The second chassis is going a lot slower than the first. Now that the truck is together and running, I'm having a blast with it, so there is less motivation for me to get the second one done. The second one is going to be considerably smaller than this one, and should weigh about 1/2 of this one. Savage shocks are still being planned, but no cantilevers. It will be quite a while before this next one is done, but when it is I'll be sure to post it.

Thanks! Of course it had to be a Dodge! Right now Rick is getting ready to paint me another Dodge Quad Cab body for my T-Maxx. It's going to have the reverse paint scheme that this one has, with blue on the bottom and charcoal on the top.

Tamiya announced a while back that the Clod kit is being discontinued. The rumor is the licensing for the Chevorlet body is getting too expensive. A rep from Tamiya on **** said not to worry about drivetrain parts being available, because "they will be available for a long time to come." He couldn't say more, but many people think the kit will continue with a different body. Since the Jugg 1 & 2 used a Ford body, and the Clod used a Chevy, I think it's high time Tamiya used a Dodge body! I think a new quad cab hardshell body would be awesome for a show body.
