Quick question about gearing - I just got a TC3 and the spur is the standard 72T. How should I gear it for use with a 5300 Lehner/7018 controller for 6 cells? 7 cells? I just installed a couple of PC fans as well, one on top of the controller, and one next to the motor (along with the blue heatsink) to keep things from getting too warm. Right now I'm using a 17T and it seems kind of undergeared, but I'm a little scared to go any bigger. Any suggestions?

give it 3 more teeth.
I've run mine up to 29 tooth pinion on a 69 tooth spur.
it ran way to hot for my likings, but never thermaled.
but I'd say around 20-22 is good.
once you get "in the area" you have to change the pinion just 1 tooth at a time, till you get it where you like it (not too hot, no cogging, still have torque, and speed)

Thanks for the reply.
I have an RX pack on the way so hopefully that'll eliminate alot of the notchiness/off/on feeling that I've been getting with the controller. The cooling fans help, and I haven't gotten it so hot that it thermal cycles yet so....
My old car was an HPI with a 90T spur, so this new spur gearing is throwing me all off  Thanks for yer help!
