first, it depends how much you wanna spend on it, if you got the cash, i say get a txt and put a brushless in it, but if you don't than don't ask me cauze i have no idea about the clod :p

I own a TXT-1, but not a clod so....
I think out of the box the TXT-1 is a far superior truck and from what I've heard, bringing a clod to a TXT-1's ability would require a large sum of additional cash. That being said, if you wanted the ultimate climber, and were willing to put out the cash (basically replacing everything but the gear boxes), the clod maybe the better choice (lower CG).

Those links should keep you busy for a while. Also remember that the cold is now discontinued, although you can by just about any part for it from the aftermarket.

where do you buy all the upgrades for the txt-1?

I would say with a new chassi the clod i superior due to the motors being on the axles. Dont get brushless if your going to rockcrawl it will have lowspeed cogging which you dont want. A good clod chassi is the gecko from Rcguy.
Just my 2 norwegian kroners!

joeman,
No, clods have the motors on the axels, not the txt-1. Use the links from mjohnston for parts, rc4wd.com is a very good start.

Not superior but "better"...(lower CoG)...but the TXT-1 has better susp. set-up than many Clod aftermarket chassis and are abit more up-gradeable (as far as the drive-train conserned anyway)....
That is my 20 Swedish Öre...

it wont cogg if you set it up right, it just takes some practice and a good brushless setup.
i have NO hopups on my txt-1 except for tamiya blue shocks and it is more durable than my $1500 emaxx could dream of (the truck it replaced).
the clod IS awesome, but as mentioned needs hopups to be worthy. the good thing is a super hoped up used clod on ebay will run the same as a new txt-1.
i run 2 six cell packs in parallel when i crawl. 40 minute plus runtimes with a 9t pinion and like no cogging.

I belive it is possible to mount the E-Maxx transmission with some mounting assessorys...
You'll need a three ch transmitter either if you want to get a two speed trans or if you want selectable 4WS...(preferably 3 ch with mixing), you can use 4WS with only one channel but then you'll always have 4WS...

if you got over $600 to invest into the truck then get the clod it will be a much better crawler. But if you dont have that kind of money then go with the TXT-1. Mine works great for rock crawling.

Having the transmission in the axels are like cheating...plus, IMHO I don't like the look of the truck when everyting sits on the axels...
